Does anyone have any advice on how to fix the lock out on Reba SL forks?

I bought a bike through an add on the wanted section and when it arrived the lock out on the forks was not working despite the bike being advertised as immaculate. I contacted the seller, Andy Peggy, and was assured that the forks were working when sent and they probably just needed a good ride for the lock out to start working. I took his word for it and the lock out still does not work. I contacted him again and was assured that he would look into it and provide me with any spares that we’re needed to fix. Since then i have not been able to contact him so I am asking if anyone has any advise on how to fix the lock out.

    Cheers,

    Andy

    what year forks
is the lockout via a pop-lock bar mounted cable thingy

does the compression adjuster turn freely?
is the flood gate set correctly?

    pics might help.

Are you expecting a solid lock out?
I have a set of these also and the expresssion lock-out doesn’t really describe how it feels.
It is certainly stiffer when locked out but nothing like a DT Swiss lockout that feel like a rigid fork.

Probably piddled their damping oil into the lower leg via a leaking O-ring on the damper shaft. Usually followed by loss of travel as more oil builds up.Easily and cheaply fixed with a new 0-ring and fresh oil, contact Locotuning for bits.

Was there any oil in the packaging? The oil could also have come out the top in transit

Wow, thanks for the quick responces!

I think they are 2007/2008 and yes they are operated via pop-loc. The compression adjuster does have an end point but the flood gate turns constantly. when the pop-loc is on there is no difference at all.

Is there a way to check if it a a leaking o-ring?

I fixed a problem with my RS Revs last week. The compression adjuster was only turning half way from fully open and not achieving lockout. Whipping out the compression unit revealed the top O ring had “prolapsed” for want of a better term and was fouling the adjuster.

To fix I had to remove the top of the commpression stack. This is a left hand thread, but once off the troublesome O ring could be removed. It looked fubared, it had a big blister where it had been pushed through a gap, but once the pressure was off it relaxed back to a perfect doughnut. Since I didn’t have a replacement at the time I refitted it and its done 90 miles since with no problems.

Check on here for other posts which have pictures of the compression unit in bits and this gobbldygook will makes sense.

Just found the post that helped me out here

It is possible its just as simnple s the forks needing to be cycled a good few times to get teh oil in the right places – when the bike has been upside down for a while the lockout can stop working
