Long journey over night tonight, I'd quite like something to listen to.

No music, I have plenty of that, fancy listening to a nice play or somthing like that to while a way the miles.

Anything at all as long as it is free.

Thanks for that, anyone else like to share? Come on, it's not the STW way not to have an opinion on what is best!

Friday Night Comedy from Radio 4

Hard to find any plays. I like TWIT which is a techy podcast but done in a light hearted easy to listen way.

Or you could shell out some cash and go to audible.co.uk and buy a book, they're meant to be very well done.

    Adam & Joe – Brilliant
Phill & Phil's Perfect Ten can be amusing (very sweary)
Collings & Herrin – shambolic but amusing. Again very sweary

you might hate these, but you can download the Ricky Gervais XFM shows for free (from pilkipedia). They are from a few years ago, and not as contrived as the more recent podcasts.

Or try the Russell Brand Radio 2 shows. I detest him on the telly, and couoldn't finish his book….but he is suprisingly funny on the radio.

I really like Mike Duncan's "History of Rome" but then I'm a nerd.

My current favourites are (links take you direct to itunes podcast pages):

The Bugle – Ansy Zaltzman and John Oliver.

A Point of View: David Attenborough's Life Stories

….and From Our Own Correspondent is always terrific.

The only prob with the BBC ones is they do not keep archives so you usually can only get the latest episode.

I regularly find myself listening to the 'Scotland Outdoors' things on Radio Scotland on a weekend morning. They do podcasts. http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/outdoors/

(Disclaimer: I'm getting quite old, if that's liable to influence your pre-judgments on these)

Seconded for the Scotland Outdoors podcast. The Friday Night Comedy is normally very good too, but the current Fred MacAulay show is a bit poor, IMO.
