I found Selectspecs to be slow.
Specs were excellent quality when I got them though.

I used http://www.glassesdirect.co.uk/ a couple of years ago.

I only need my glasses for watching tv / playing xbox, so didn’t want to pay for expensive frames.

They cost about £25 including delivery, which I thought was great. The local opticians wanted at least £165 and I couldn’t justify the difference in price.

I also cocked up the prescription originally, changed the negative to positive, and the good people at Glasses Direct changed them at no cost. So, my idiocy is included in their returns policy.

    Hope it helps.

Selectspecs were good. Took about 10/14 days, they come direct form the Far East but are silly-cheap. Having said that i used to go out with an optician and when she got me specs at trade, even ‘designer’ ones theyw were only £10-£30 trade. There is a massive markup.

If You can buy frames only I used Spec Tech for my rx inserts, You can get the frames glazed for £15 or more if You want extras (compared with £30 to £50 at specsavers). Reasonably quick turnaround and seems like a good job.

I’ve used ciliaryblue a couple of times.

First time to glaze a full-rimmed Oakley frame. Absolutely superb job, great quality, top service, one happy customer.

Second time was for rimless oakleys. This time not so good. Basically they made an absolute hash of it. Arms were completely misalinged and generally not done right. I think they just don’t have the correct kit for doing this type of glasses.

So you’d think I’d be recommending to steer clear. BUT – I emailed my complaint and the boss called me within 10 mins, was helpful and apologetic and instantly refunded when I requested.

So, it’s like they say, it’s how you treat your customers when things go wrong that they remember, and as such, when I need another pair of (full rimmed) glasses, I will be going back to them again.
