  • Need work distraction. Advice for light, 120mm trail bike

Demotivated and distracted today at work so I need something to help me through the afternoon. Thinking of buying a new bike seems like a pleasant way to while away the time before I can ride home for the day.
So… I would like a light (say 25lb) 120mm trail bike. Currently I can only think of a Trek Fuel. Any other suggestions? There must be loads.

Scott Spark, the new 2012 looks even cooler
Yeti ASR5, Santa Cruz Blur TR, Intense Spider 2,
But I ride a Cube Sting, great fun.

Yes! A Yeti. Mmm. Or a Santa Cruz. Why are these almost all American bikes?
I think the Whyte and the Cannondale are on the lardy side, no?

Scott sparks were 110mm in 2011 but for 2012 are going up to 120mm. They looks awesome and the 2011 spark 20 i rode for a few weeks was great fun. It climbed like an absolute wippet but it was in the singletrack that it really felt at home, it was like a 4x bike.
I did run it with a 65mm stem and 730mm bars as per all my bikes.
I am ordering a 2012 as soon as they become availiable

    +1 to the 2012 Spark 26-er 120mm, looks ace.
SC Superlight as another suggestion, this gets asked quite a lot lately, have a search for the other threads

For the last few years the Spark has come with 120mm forks but as you say with 110mm out the back,

Do look at a Cube Sting though!

A Spark would be nice but that Liteville looks wunderbar! Not heard of them before. Are they generally a good thing?

have a search on here, they are supposed to be very good and very adaptable, some-one posted a link one to a German ‘picture/spec’ thread with around 100 pages…
