Just got back from walking along the spit at the end of a short stay in Poole. Idly thought I'd check out the prices of the beach huts after an old chap on the ferry told us the "good ones" were going for £275k. The latest unsold instruction is now on at over half a mil! Can't sleep in them over the winter and no toilet. Also came across few local comments about rich people having run out of things to buy.

Vans suddenly look like great vfm...
I'm from Poole, been like that for a long time. 2 and a bit hours from London so basically it's the commuter belt.
Jokes on them though as Poole is sh%t*
Some parts of that neck of the woods are pleasant enough mind, especially if you love the boaty life. Terrible mountain biking though
Doesn't seem too bad if you actually own the freehold.
People pay £150 to £200k for lodges and fancy static homes, which only have a 15 year lease or so. Dead money.
Abersoch Beach huts are currently for sale for offers over £175k. Abersoch is a long way from London.
This one in Embleton, Northumberland, went for £220,000 at auction.
It's a leasehold and every time the lease comes up for renewal, the National Trust try to kick them off.
Nothing to do with London money, there are a LOT of wealthy people living on the South Coast. And while I agree Poole is shit (Lived there for first 20 years of my life) it is not the same place as Mudeford.
Cash only as well, as I suspect you wouldn't get a mortgage on something built on sand. I would imagine you would also suddenly be very interested in the melting of the Polar Ice Caps over the next decade or so.
Not in my opinion it isn't
Isn't sandbanks nearby the most expensive postcode in Europe or something?
and I thought the ones near me for £40k were crazy (although they’re smaller, can’t sleep in them at all, and not actually on the beach)
@grum yes but it's not the same place and it has nothing to do with London money. Don't make the same mistake I did
Not sure that teeny fire extinguisher is going to do much if it catches fire.
How come you can't sleep in them, do they vibrate?

Which also appears to be a thing...

Think the council don't allow it (bylaws?)
Did anyone else find themselves reading the estate agent blurb in George Clarke’s (Amazing spaces) accent? Cheaper to buy a boat and moor it in Poole, and that makes it clear how stupid the price is.
Blimey! Mudeford beach huts. Haven stayed in one of those since the mid 70’s. They were expensive then.

I’d agree that Poole and Mudeford are very separate entities, I actually like Poole……Well Poole Harbour and it’s surroundings. There are some grim bits of Poole, I’ll give you that!
Hengistbury head huts must be worth more?
That's where the one above is.

Trust the local press not to know the name of their own area

Mudeford Sand Spit is on the same side of the harbour as Hengistbury Head.

Sensible thinking, and if you bore of that view you can float off to somewhere else.
