[#9772257]

Off over to Burgundy again this year, 9-19th Aug. A couple of years ago a fair few of us met up at the base of the Super Morzine and had a cracking day out, it would be fantastic to do it again if anyone is about this year ? Will only be for the day and i'll likely take my T-130 this time. But it's better than me and if i can't ride it on the T-130 i can't ride it on something with 30mm more.

Well that's an excellent start 🙂

There's only really the first and the last day i wouldn't be able to shoot over, but anything in between then, yeah i'm there for the day. We'll see if we get any more takers and see what days suit them etc.

Keep me posted, you’ll find me in your address book under “Mr No Show” 😐  should have a bike suitable car by the summer ....

BTW weeksy will drop you an email as I have a friend who’s planning an SDW in a day ride and using Zwift as part of programme - some advice for him would be v useful (fellow Liverpudlian and biker, just bought a s/h Solaris), will put you in touch if you don’t mind

Of course I don't mind, but there are far better riders than me to advise him.

I'll be out in Morzine around about that time I hope although we haven't firmed up dates yet. It would be good to meet up but I'm NOT going to ride La Bourgoise in the wet again. No sir, not me.

BTTT. Still planning on making it down to Morzine for the day. I may even manage to persuade Mrs Weeksy this time. Last time we made it over it was a cracking day out with STWers 🙂

Between Stoner and Ambrose we should get some decent XC routes... Along with having a bike i know well, it should again be fantastic 🙂

Less than 3 hours driving, it's about the same as driving to Afan from home on a weekend 🙂

Slight hijack - I’m there 4th to 11th of August, it’s a family holiday but I’m allowed a day on my bike.

Id be glad to meet up with a few other riders - if nothing else last time I was off solo I go lost, broke my bike and spent 2 hours hitchhiking back to Morzine to find my wife bleeding in the Burgar Bar near the pleny lift after a crash on the luge, oh how we laughed - eventually.

Unfortunately I'll just miss that as we have to be making our way back to blighty on the 14th/15th in time for the greenman festival. Have a good time all.

I'll probably be around but maybe not by the 19th.

Will keep an eye on the thread. August is a little far away for my style of organisation just yet.

10th might be OK for me. 11th is Les HAUTES FORTS trail race and Mrs Stoner is competing so I will be on brat minding duties.

How's the 12th then instead Stoner ? I'd have to make sure i don't crash as it's Mrs Weeksys birthday the day after  🙂 But as long as i can manage that, it works OK for me...

If not then i guess we may have to ride without you buddy...

Although, i'm not actually sure who may or may not be about now 😀

Related question. I was thinking about bringing the wife over in the morning, then booking a place in Montriond for the night of the 12th. That way she gets to wake up in the mountains on her birthday. From what i can see it's only 2-3km from Morzine itself which is ideal. I assume there's a lift/transport to easily get from/to Morzine ?

Was Montriond the lake you do on the PPDS route, you go along the Ridge from Morzine then drop down to the lake with ice-cream stall there ?

Weeksy - Montriond is where my place is. The village has 3x bars/restaurants and a v good local shop.

The BALAD'AULPS BUS (LIHSA LIGNE 2) runs the length of the valley d'aulps from Thonon on Lake Geneva up to Les gets. One line of it goes through Montriond and takes you in to town for €1.50 e/w But I cant see a summer timetable yet.

However, it's a only 20min walk along the river (v nice) in to central Morzine.

The Lake itself is a 25min walk up the valley. There's a path in the woods or one that follows the stream.

You get to it from the Lindarets bowl where a lot of the Avoriaz lifts are, take the road descent to Ardent and then cut left over the stream and take the off road route down to the lake side where there are a number of hotel bars and a new ice cream parlour is opening this season.

(Oh, and I should be able to join you on the 12th)

Ace. Booked a place for 12th.

So, if anyone else wants to play, we'll be at the entrance about 25m from the super moraine life, 9.45am on the 12th Aug. How's that for a semi official plan?

Changed tyre plan and went for some WTB Trail Boss tough. They're on the 'throw down the side of a mountain' wheels now.

Still looking forward to this lots... Just working on buying some shorts and tops etc 🙂

At least if i fall off the side of the mountain you should be able to locate me 🙂

Just a quick bump and a question for Stoner.

There's a 'ridge' ride i forget the name of now, epic video with a trail right across the top with massive drops both sides.. I'm sure you know it... How viable is that for our days riding ? Whilst i'm happy with the trails etc, i'm also more than happy to make it a bit more of an epic adventure type ride.

I think currently it's only me, you and Ambrose who are confirmed and i'm sure that sort of thing would suit him as much if not more so than hitting a dedicated red.

Apologies for stepping in, we are there in July and wondered about col du cou. Local knowledge would be great.

FFS I wrote a lovely long reply and then got logged out and cant log in again except via incognito mode. Shonky ****ing forum!

Will try and remember what I typed.

This video

Starts at the descent over the Swiss side off the ridge to the south of the Mosettes lift. Before it gets as a far down as Crosets it turns South (Right) and runs along the face of the ridge, climbing up to the Col de Cou where with French/Swiss border is met by l'Arrete de Berroi at 52seconds.

Turning East (Left) along the ridge.

Return can be via Les Creuses (the valley bottom parallel to the ridge to the north) and back to Les Crosets, or descent via track road to Champery for a beer before taking the big Gondola (Croix de Culet) back up the Marcheuson and then descend red singletrack to Crosets (we did that descent last time)

This is roughly the route from and back to the top of Mosettes we'd do

and STrava Heat map of the route

Yay!!! Accommodation is finally booked, in Les Gets. We'll be there from 4th - 18th August. Hopefully my legs will work a bit better by then.

Now I'm off to buy a new shirt too. Hawaiian.

I'll be 4th to 11th of August, it's a family trip but I do get a day pass!

It would be great to meet up with a group, if nothing else so someone can phone the Mrs when I spanner myself and 'prove' it's not my fault 😉
