Would I be right in saying the M4 had a 183mm rotor instead of 180mm.?

Depends on the mount you use. From the Hope website they do both sizes of rotor. I'm using 180s with mine but I suspect a 183 would fit (from what I can see, an extra 1.5mm will fit into the setup I've got.

183 for post mount, 180 for IS. You may be lucky and get a 183 to fit, sometimes there's enough clearance, sometimes not.

I have run both 180 and 183 on my M4 IS mount in the past no problems.
