Is this ok? Want to mark 25 and 30% increments whilst i set sag (on my own)

it’ll melt the seals and react with the oil causing it to cavitate.

I wouldn’t bother if they’re Fox forks. The anodising will come off along with the magic marker in less time than it takes to get the sag right.

use a dremmel with one of those discs and score little lines on there – much less risk of terminal cavitation

Just use a centre punch – it’s the best way to mark all bike components

put the bike next to a mirror and draw/engrave the relevant marks on the mirror where the fork legs reflect prior to sitting on it?

Hmmm, I’d be wary. A friend of mine did this, then 3 years later… Boom! Cancer.

    Proceed with caution.

Come on guys it is Xmas…. 🙂

Couple of loose tie wraps in an oval shape. That will be tight enough to see what sag you have and will be easy enough to cut off without risk of damaging the stanchion.

mark it by smearing it with knob cheese

Be careful, anodising can be porous so you may not completely get the marks out if you decide to remove them. Use cable ties

do a big poo, hold it like a pen and draw the required lines.

That works fine with fox forks

    So many smart Alecs!!!

I dunno whether marker pen will bo OK or not.

When I set my sag I use a zip tie and a tape measure.
As in you know the full travel of your fork, you put a zip tie around one leg and measure how much sag you get, and work out your percantage from that.

If they’re Fox forks just rely on the line of oil that appears on the stanchions after you’d compressed them.
