    I’ve been told (by Garmin) they can transfer them (OS for whole of the UK) across, but was wondering if, as they are on the SD card, they’ll continue to work on the 800 as well.

    Depends on how the maps were purchased. If you bought them on an SD Card they are locked to that card but you can move the card around between devices. If you downloaded them they are locked to the device they were download to. They might be physically stored on the sdcard in both case but the license key will be different.

    Ah ok thanks. They probably thought it was downloaded so offered to load maps onto the new unit, but I’m sure I got the SD card separately. Thought I was going to end up with 2 units with maps on then 🙁
