I know they’re race brakes but I’ve been offered a pair from a friend. I would invest in a set of pads with the heatsink. I’ve currently got standard 180mm steel rotors mounted, is it worth an upgrade to ICE or floating? Or will they just boil anyway?

I’ve used various Shimano brakes in the Alps – SLX old and new style, and M445. No problems with any of them and never run with the heatsink pads.

I’d think XTR are more than up to it, regardless of heatsink pads? More important to go for a 200mm rotor if you think you’ll be lacking power?
