  • Knee Injury – "POP"?

We were climbing yesterday and when I was doing a dynamic move I felt part of my right leg near my knee “pop” I’ve broken quite a few things before so fairly aware when my body is telling me somethings not right so I stopped climbing and rested my leg.

Today it doesn’t really hurt but if I press the area it felt like the pop came from it feels bruised.. I don’t think it’s anything worth checking up on other than just resting but I’m curious as to what it maybe…

It feels like it was a ligament type injury and next to the bumpy bone beneath my knee cap towards the outside of the right leg so the very top outer of the shin bone.

From my self diagnosis online it looks too low to be the meniscus… any thoughts?

    Thanks!

It is imperative that you rest immediately, you have Hurty Knee.

I had an ankle pop loudly (more of a crack really) when I turned it running last year. Ended up with a bruise up the outside of my leg and a wobbly ankle for a while, but it got better in a few weeks.

Cut down on the dynos for a bit, or completely if you are my age. Take care with rockovers too.

    Patellar tendon tear?

The usual advice applies – rest, ice, elevation. Worth missing a few climbing sessions, certainly.

Not sure a meniscus would pop. More likely an external ligament tear ? It was a pop rather than a bone on bone click ? Does it hurt when you upstairs or down (down often worse)

Good advice above, ice / rest / (ibuprofen good) / when pain eases start back with gentle excersize. Whilt you don’t want to see a doc / good physio you need specialist advice. IME this sort of thing doesn’t just go away

My pop was my ACL tearing.

Yeah dancing at party I had the same, big pop and my ACL went. Few beers soothed the pain and then had it operated on ten years later….
