One of those steel new but very old Saracen frames arrived from that bankcrupt surplus eBay shop. Arrived next day and tidy welds, detail and matt black paint. Being built as a winter hack.£31 posted. But I thought it had same shape top tube seatpost interface as old kili flyers. Not so sure now.

Same as my Handjob, which is made of quite fancy steel. Heavier than some, lighter than others. Not what I'd call porky though.

Yup fair weight really, as chaka sez, same as a Handjob, lighter than a Inbred though I'd say

There aren't many steel frames under 4lb (even high end custom ones), so 4.7lb isn't too bad at all. An Inbred 456 weighs about 6lb.

My steel frame weighs 6.2lbs! So I'd say 4.7 isn't bad!

Fab, all I need now is the old school seatpost bolt with notch in.

Interesting, as my 1990 Tange Prestige fillet brazed etc etc weighs 4.75 lbs bare, (but my mate reckons it's really made out of old chair legs from a school!)

A std inbred weighs about 4.7lb, for an old frame for £31 you have well.

I reckon a sub 4lb mtb frame is easily achievable.

Cotic Soul in large is 4.7lb

Cynic, which size inbred have you weighed at 4.7lb?

    Weight weenies lists a 2005 Inbred 456 18" as ~2300g or 5.06lbs

Dekerf Team SLs were 1685g (3.7 lb or 3 lb, 11oz)

My DK generation is apparently 1875g (4.1 lb or 4 lb, 2oz)

Well XC, though. And late 90's XC to boot.

hi wally- nice frame you got there. Do you have a link to the exact one you got? I'd heard about these and might fancy building a retro commuter up… Good luck with the bolt, try retrobike if nobody on here can help.

Whooh just weighed it again on more accurate scales, it is 2.24Kg (as advertised) and 4.97lb , sorry.

    One of these then

    that isn't heavy at all.

the head angle will require rigid forks

look at the who-ha on here about the new on-ones, and they are just plain guage gaspipe with a fancy orange paintjob and a slack headangle. bigger than jesus
