    Hi,

I’ve followed numerous recipes to make flapjack and none of them seem to work- they are either too crumbly or rock solid. Please help a seemingly incapable cook out!

If anyone has an idiot proof recipe they are willing to share, that would be fantastic. Thanks 🙂

    1. Get dressed.
    2. Nip to the local shop.
    3. Buy a flapjack.
    4. UNWRAP.
    5. Enjoy!

    250g porridge oats
    150g raisins
    1 tsp cinnamon
    150g margerine
    75g Golden syrup
    75g sugar

Over a low heat melt the margerine, syrup and sugar.
When all the margerine has melted, stir the oats, raisins and cinnamon.
Spread the mixture in a greased baking tray and bake at 175 degrees C for 25-30 minutes.
Whilst the flapjacks are still warm cut them into portions. Do not turn them out until they have cooled.

Replace the raisins and cinnamon with any other fillings that you fancy. Diced dried apricots and ginger or glacier cherries and coconut are both good.

Thank you farm boy, I’ll be giving that a go later

Hairy- I’m trying to impress with my flapjack making skills, walking to the shop does NOT count!

    4 x oats (1kg)
    2 x butter (500g)
    1 x sugar (250g)
Golden syrup (1kg oats requires nigh on 10 talblespoons)

add fruit/crushed nuts/seeds (same weight as sugar give or take)

    180 degrees for about 20mins

    Top with melted chocolate

    Cool, Eat.

ps. I usually do half of the above, and it cuts up to about 30 pieces.

Soobalias- thank you! Another good looking recipie, I’m glad you pointed out that you half it, I’m not sure I’ve got enough space to store the full amount of flapjack! 🙂

Graham- that link appears to be broken, at least on my computer??

Add a couple of tablespoons of desiccated coconut to the dry ingredients for extra yummyness 🙂
