Seeing a surgeon in a couple of weeks. Saw him last year, shat myself and pulled out of the op.
Basically I have a haglund (bony prominence)heel which aggravates my Achilles. I’ve now got a solid bump on the heel too, which rubs on certain shoes.
I can tolerate the pain. It doesn’t hurt when I am resting. But it comes on after running (doesn’t hurt so much when I am running but anything above 10km and I pay for it).
Started to notice it a bit after cycling too.
I’ve had injections. I have rested it for 9 months. I think it is on a slow downward spiral.
but the operation is to cut a wedge out of my heel and bolt the whole thing back together. Which to me sounds horrific!
Do I bite the bullet, which is likely to but not 100% going to solve it? Or persevere with conservative treatments!?
