  • Hope Pro 2 Hub tools – do I need them to service my hubs and freewheel?

According to Hopetech, I do, but then they would say that… eg you certainly dont need their tool to replace the freehub. But, to knock out and press the bearings, maybe?

    The site isnt working properly

…so I'm not sure what this is exactly or costs, but could be useful.

    Any thoughts?

It is certainly better to use the correct tools but not essential. You run the risk of damaging the new bearings when putting them in if you use sockets or other bodges. However I have changed a couple of bearings with no issues without the correct tools.

Anyone with the slightest mechanical skillz will be able to do without the Hope tools.

SSS – that possibly rules me out then, though at least my tool box does contain a hammer.

Sorry, been done to death here:

Hope's kit isnt expensive, you'd have to be a bit anal to buy the "nylon wheel support" though surely?
