Oh crap by -Cheesyfeet-, on Flickr

That’s the ball end of a t-handled Allen key stuck in the jockey wheel bolt. Not enough hex exposed to get another Allen key in

    Ideas???

Bit of super glue on the T-Handled allen key to remove the broken end.

Unwind it with the dérailleur cage?
iOS 8 added that accent by the way not me.

Is there any special reason you want it out now? Jockey wheel condition “looks” fine.. save the problem for another day 😉

Can you force in a slightly larger Torx socket and then undo it?

Undo the other bolt and just rotate the cage until the tight one frees off. Fit a new bolt. Never, ever use a ball end to tighten or loosen anything again.

Pair of pliers on the outside of the bolt.

If you have cable cutters they will work as well, again gripping the outside of the bolt. Go straight on as if you are going to cut the bolt in half until they have “cut” a bit into the bolt and undo.

Looks to be wedged in from key being turned. Just stick an optical flathead in there release it, and then just ride it out?

Or a take a lump hammer to it.

try and knock it back round clockwise to release it.

Try undoing the other bolt and unscrewing the bolt with the cage.

Try some pliers on the head

Cut a slot with a small dremel wheel

Buy a new derailleur and stick it in the drawer for another day.

Superglue not working. Torx not working. Turning cage not working.

Need to get it out as grass and crud in bearing, so very stiff

hacksaw through between plate and the jockey wheel

Use molgrips to grip remaining bolt and remove

    get a new bolt

The bolt has thread lock on it. Use a blowtorch or hot air gun to soften it.

Ok, it’s out. Bolt replaced with one from a spare

    Thanks all

cut a slot in the bolt with a Dremel cutting wheel. Not particularly elegant, but worked
