    Hi. I am looking at putting together some budget wheels. Weight not an issue but it would be nice if they stayed in one piece…

    My Budget build will be Mavic Xm119 (9 quid each from CRC – bought)
    probably Novatec 041 Hubs at about £50 pair and I was thinking of these

    Halo Plain Guage spokes

    at 20p each with nipples that is about 16 quid for both wheels. Is it worth spending more on this cheap build (brass nipples would be nice I spose)

    Yes, I use them a lot in the more unusual sizes – very good quality.
