Free / Cheap parking in Newport Gwent?

Catching the train from Newport so I can embark on a last minute 5 day jolly. Any locals know of any free or cheap parking to save me the £8 / day at the train station car park?

Tis not a big city, You would surely find somewhere residential within 500m and be able to walk to the station.

Thanks. Given it’s small I’ll leave early and take a drive around. Reason I ask is that I am near Salisbury and the council have yellow lined every street in the city centre.

Aim for that area I show on the first Googlestreets link. It is up the hill form the station. Anywhere south/below the station will be out as that is city centre and will be restricted/limited/permit only parking

The most you’ll get free in a car park is two hours. You might find a space in Baneswell but a lot is residents permit. You could park up by me which is a five minute walk away or there’s free car parking by St Woolos cathedral, usually full though.

Will do. Just used google street view and have found plenty of roads north of the station where I can park.
