The new blue section on the final descent of the Verdures’ trail was finally completed and is now up and running. Although it’s supposed to be easier than the original red section, it’s just as fun to ride. The trail itself had 12,500 riders on it in the 10 weeks over the summer and it wasn’t even officially open for some of that time, so it’s well exceeded everyone’s expectations.

The bridge across the road is still on course to be completed by the end of the year.

Work on the car park at the cycle centre will start in the second week of January. This will be to revamp the area making it more visitors friendly. It’s then planned to hopefully build a new overflow car park for about 100 cars somewhere near the back of the council depot which should be complete by Easter.

Finally there might be plans in the pipe line to hold an endurance type event next April with timed sections.Sounds interesting,so once we have more news on this we will let you know.
