OK….after over a years hard graft the house reno is nearly complete.

Ive put a natural riven slate floor down in the kitchen….which was covered with polythene sheets and taped down to protect it from work being carried out elsewhere in the house.

The unveiling has left marks where the glue from the masking tape has been 🙄 and even after giving it a good mop still shows where the tape was.

Any suggestions of how to get rid of these marks??

I imagine some sort of solvent to lift the adhesive followed by sealing oil to revive the slate would do it.

Try nail varnish remover (the wife says)

baby oil worked on mine.

If you have a spare tile then make sure you trial whatever you use. Example rub half the tile with the cleaning solution, once dry coat with oil or similar sealer to see if you get a difference in colour. If the answer is yes then clean the whole floor with the cleaning solution before using your finishing sealer!

Isopropyl alchohol or nail varnish remover (acetone) will shift the sticky residue then a little slate seal if it's removed any.

hammer and cold chisel should work 😉

only solution would be to take the floor up and relay!
