    Hello,

    I can’t understand how an Exposure Maxx-D has over 10,000 mAh of battery, whereas a battery pack of a similar size for other lights only has around 5,000 mAh.

    How do they manage to pack in so many amps?

    batteries in series, not parallel or something, I think.

    It is parallel, ie I use 2.6Ah cells so 2P would be 5.2Ah 4P would be 10.Ah.

    Series as when youre adding the voltages together, 1S 3.75V, 2S 7.5V …

    Then you get into 2S2P 7.5V 5.2Ah ..

    as Smudge said, parallel, so more amps, but lower voltage.
    Same amount of power stored.

    It’s energy that’s being stored rather than power – power is a measure of the rate of energy release. 1 Watt is 1 Joule per Second. In fact battery capacities are written as the amount of charge they hold (mAh or Ah) to give an idea of how long they will last for a given current draw. Putting batteries in parallel will not increase the current (for the same load) as the voltage is the same , but the the same current can be drawn for longer as the capacity is bigger.
