    Awesome. Decent speakers/tv.

The film hints hes a natural killer. The difference between him and the perps is control?..

Not the stallone Dredd then (which was crap)

Haven’t seen the current (way better, truer to comic strip) version.

Whoa. Much lower budget, costumes further away than stallones but 110% the grit n shit

    Soundtrack = bang on

If you enjoy dredd check out the raid. Very similar except set in our current time in Indonesia and with subtitles…

A film about Daily life in Johannesburg. I often drive on that elevated highway section on the way home from work 🙂

Acehtn, just a question but if you’ve not seen it how can you comment it’s better?

Funny you should say that as I’ve just done that exact same thing.

    Admirable.

Loved Dredd. Will need to watch it again. I think it’s underrated and overlooked by many. Liked the raid, but although the premise is the high rise block, I do think they are different enough to say that one isn’t necessarily a copy of the other.

If only more people could be sent for recyc.

Stallone had the chin for it. Sadly not much else going on.

Liked the new one. Really needs a sequel with a bit more scale to it.

    Got the comics.
    Watched the Stallone version.

Only seen trailers and reviews of the new version, which put it no where near the Stallone version which was bad, also feedback from friends that have seen it also state “you can not compare to the gash that stallone was in “

I like Dredd so much i have the 12″ single by Anthrax “I am the law” and North Wind may have noticed i wear a Dredd badge on my race jacket 🙂

As i am poor and working class, i have to wait for tesco’s to knock out the DVD for about £5 before i get to watch it 🙂

Liked the’new’ Dredd but agree it could have been grittier.

So many other 2000ad characters from my youth would make awesome films if done right.

    Strontium Dog
    Rogue Trooper
    Zenith
    Nemesis
    Bad Company
    Slaine

Would also love to see a couple of stories from Crisis (more ‘adult’ 2000ad spin off comic) make it to the big screen – Marshall Law and New Statesmen.

^^^ Marshall Law film adaptation is a good shout.

For me, Brian Bolland was the best Dredd artist.

The Button Man would make an awesome film.

Daniel Craig could do it once he’d stopped being 007.

A Strontium Dog film would be wicked if done right. Who would play Durham Red though?

I would hope they cast Durham Red in the later progs than the earlier ones.

Kate Beckinsale might do it 🙂

Neither of the Dredd films go into the ethics of the judges enough. The judges are judge, jury and executioner rolled into one and justice is dispensed on the spot. The picture below defines the totalitarian state that Dredd lives in with the much larger Statue of justice looking down on the Statue of liberty, the emphasis being that the Judges and upholding the law are more important than individual liberty.

Hopefully a sequel would go into the story of the Judges. The first one was to introduce the characters.

    Durham Red?

    Eva Green.

Loving this thread but mourning my loss, or stupidity. Collected from 86 or 87and had all the supersurf chopper issues, those amazingly drawn Slaines and Hewligan’s Haircut. Plus all the rest. All binned. Argh!

Who was the English superhero? Zenith? Liked that.
I had the progs/monthlies and annuals.

Mum moved home and binned the lot but left me 3.

She also binned all my action men/tanks/jeeps!

Recent Dredd film was really good, not the epic stories of the comics, but a good short story well filmed.
2000AD is a rich mine of stories for Hollywood. Loved Dredd stories like chopper and league of fatties, and people who lived inRV’s permanently, and the woman who was a champion washing up competitor, or the roundabout that was so busy it was used as a prison, or the USSR range finding guns that could shoot through walls. Every week had more ideas than you can wave a stick at.
