The one small corner of the marvel-verse still worth our attention?  Or more over the hill,  flogged to death and then some, super hero rubbish?

Absolutely in for this! There are so many Easter eggs buried in the trailer it’s going to take repeated views of the film to pick them out. And it hasn’t been Disneyfied, it’s R-Rated – love the poster too!

Fan service has utterly killed off any slight element of story telling, nuance or plot that these films may have convinced themselves that they were adapting from the source material. **** character arc when you can instead have the cover of “a particular” comic book blowing in wind, or the name of a writer as a store front name… More time and effort goes into making sure that fans will come to the movies* than making them into actual watchable product. Deadpool has become the American Pie of the marvel franchise, and those movies were better than most of the recent marvel movies

*when your marketing campaign relies on sad incels sat in their mum’s spare room making YouTubes entitled “20 easter eggs you missed in Deadpool and Wolverine” 1. you know you’ve got them by the balls, and 2. You know you don’t have to bother any more.

I wish I thought Deadpool was funny, but I don’t. So it’s a pass from me.

First movie, decent, second movie, really quite boring. This one looks like utter shite. They had the perfect movie to end Wolverine’s arc, why ruin it?

Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer appears in the background of the bar scene. Up the town!

I’m sure there’ll be a Pitch Meeting that puts it better, but $$$$$

Much as I might agree, I’m still hopeful it’s as pant wetingly funny as the first one. The 2nd one was a letdown.

Well, gird your lions, this one’s had extensive re-shoots already becasue it didn’t go down well with test audiences. The Deadpool movie that Marvel executives want is the movie that goes to somewhere near where Deadpool comic book is, but doesn’t actually upset anyone, because R rated in the US is the kiss of death.

Reynolds and Jackman are very good friends and apparently he’s been begging Jackman for years to do it

I enjoyed the 2nd one as much as the 1st TBH. Looking forward to this, despite getting stalled with all the MCU content over the last few years.

Bringing back characters killed on screen at the end of their development arc, super easy, barely an inconvenience.

I thought Logan killed off Wolverine as he was old and tired?

I’m assuming this is some kind of alternate version of Wolverine, different timeline blah blah blah, hence the ‘classic’ uniform from the comics. As a convenient plot device, the multiverse stuff is getting a bit dull now.

<cough> The sets look GREAT though!

“No superheroes, no children’s book adaptations”. That’s my cinema-going motto. There have been few exceptions.

It never ceases to amaze me how grown adults will see a thread title, think “that’s not for me,” then deliberately open the thread to state how much they dislike it and declare an air of superiority over those who do.

It looks like silly fun.  I like silly fun.  And even if the movie does blow goats you’ve got screen time with two actors who are perfect for their characters.

    Wot Cougar sed! 👆🏻

I haven’t seen any Marvel movies for at least five years possibly more, but I will make an exception for this. I like the dark humour in it, and tbh I could do with a laugh.

One in-joke that’s been spotted is a wrecked shop behind our heroes. It’s called Leifelds ‘Just Feet’. Rob Leifeld is one of the creators of the original Deadpool comic, and has a fan reputation for being completely unable to draw characters feet.

It’s things like that, that I find highly satisfying and amusing.

I’m a proper comic book nerd. I’ve been reading comics since I was 5 and living in Hong Kong and the latest Casper the Ghost was the height of my week, so your assumption’s wide of the mark. I also hate with a passion the type of lazy assed primary-coloured movie making that Marvel churn out; because Fans.

I get the “Shhh, let them have their fun”, opinion but I’m also an adult, I’d like to see the grown up, morally ambiguous environment that the comics are actually increasingly placing these characters in in a way that film daren’t becasue of their dread of the R rating. Deadpool has ceased to be anything like the comic and is now nothing more than a replacement American Pie franchise complete with tits and arse jokes. I understand that movie execs are never ever going to exchange integrity for money, but likewise, that won’t stop me from exercising my right (as a long term fan of the genre) to voice my disappointment at what they’re doing to my world.

Loads of swearing just isn’t that funny these days.  But it’s only a trailer.

I’m not a “proper comic book nerd” like nickc but I was introduced to all these characters in the 90’s by an older cousin who got me into X-Men and all the related titles. So I was reading the comics many years before the Marvel/Disney production line fired up.

As much as I loved them at the time I can’t really stretch to watching Ryan Reynolds playing himself (as always) while winking, nudging and gooning for the camera. There’s just no connection between the two for me.

Here’s one little Deadpool factoid – in Deadpool 2, Wade wears a teeshirt with two cats on the front, and ‘Olivia & Meredith, Best Friends Purrever written around the picture. They’re Taylor Swift’s cats!

You could just not watch it?  Your “world” still exists, decades of media hasn’t just been thrown out.  The MCU is a thing in its own right.

Gatekeeping is an absolute blight on fandom.  Let people enjoy things, indeed.

If I was actually gate-keeping, you might have had a point, but as I’m not, you don’t really. Feel free to skip over my criticism of these movies, I’ve not tried to say ‘don’t go’ I’m just saying they’re a bit shit  Given that they’re already having to do re-shoots because even the Deadpool-Lite version they’d made and wanted to release was still too rude for middle America…I reckon I’m not far off the mark.

    Let people enjoy things, indeed.

Has any-one actually enjoyed any of the more recent Marvel releases on either telly of cinema?

😁  How about: All the people saying that Wolverine got a good send off in Logan are missing that the comic on which it’s based – Old Man Logan, is set in an alternative universe. They don’t have to resurrect him for this.
