Giving CX a go this winter just wondered about gearing for racing/training…..

Normal gearing i guess would be 36/48 and 11-28 out back? just wondered how many out there are running 1 x 10 and if so what gearing are you using?

I’m also on he lookout for some bits if you can help out that way too.

    thanks in advance

39/46 with 12/25 cassette, all you ever need

Mine came with 46/36, 12/25 and I haven’t found the need to change it.

46/34 with 11-28 here for racing, switched to 11-36 with a different rear mech if I am doing some long hilly rides. I like the difference between 36/34 for the muddy races’s.

    1 * 10 here, 42 up front with a 11 – 27 cassette.

The groupset I’ve bought comes with a 34/48 & 12/27, but I’ll most likely change the rings to 36/46 as it feels like to much of a gap

1×9 for me. 40t front 11-25 here although last race I couldn’t get in 25 rear so was on 1×8 11-23.

I have 34.46 Up front but only use the 46 on easy paths. Race on the 34 with 11:27 out back. 34:11 is good for 25mph.

I’d go with a single 36 or 34 up front. Races are often muddy or grassy near me so speeds not that fast.

1×10 with 11-32 out back for me, and currently a 41t up front. Lower gearing helps for traction on muddy climbs rather than trying to mash a big gear and just spinning the rear wheel.

1×10 with 38 up front and an 11-32 on the back (cos I can’t run)

    42:16

    Fixed obviously.

No idea what’s on my geared cross bike though. Something for pussies. I embarrass myself just riding the thing.
