I have these boxes that need ticking:

– flats
– no pins (since they eat shoes when pedalling and calves when carrying through stations)
– reflectors if at all possible (either fitted, or mountings for them)

I’ve just fitted some of these, which tick all of the above admirably:

However, despite them having “wide” in their name, they’re not. They’re a good inch narrower than the V12s they replaced, and too narrow for my big feet.

Anyone know of anything that ticks those boxes in a full flatty width?

Go onto crc and see what is cheap?

You could get some V8s and remove some pins? Or there are cheaper copies which use moulded lumps rather than pins.

Speedway pedals?

2nd CRC. There’s usually some ergons or other rubberised ones going cheap. Theyre designed for commuting with reflectors etc.

Ah yes, seen those Ergons before. Wasn’t quite confident enough that they’d be grippy enough in winter to gamble the £50 on them (looks like the body runs very close to the crank, too, which won’t go well with a pair of Vans) – but noted. Thanks.

For some reason I’d not thought to check CRC, seems they have a wider selection than most…

I have the plastic Gusset ones very similar to those. Plenty grippy but awful bearings. Greased from new, and still pretty poor.
