What are the opinions of the STW members on child bike seats?

I have an 18 month old child and I am keen to take her out on the bike. Is she too young to use one of these bike seat contraptions?

Can you recommend a good model (or are they all pretty similar)?

Lastly, apologies for turning this into a wanted ad – anyone got one to sell?

I use the cheapest hamax one, got it from Merlin, and have used it from about 14 months with no problems. Mounts onto a bracket on the seat tube, easy to fit and take apart, no need for a rack on the back.
