Gulp. I’m 10,600 miles from that nice retro-pace fork servicing guy (is his name Tim?), and since putting heavier weight springs in my pro-class II’s, I think I may need to upgrade my fork oil for something a little heavier.
I really don’t want to mess this up. Not without Pace Tim within easy 24 hr Parcelforce distance, anyway.
Can anyone give me a heads up on how to change the oil on these forks?
They are pretty much the same as these puppies , but without the lockout that the forks in the picture have. They’re of a Similar age though (2002-ish?), with the intricate CNC’d crown. My pro-class II’s are entirely steel sprung – i.e. no air chamber.
I have feeling that it’s got something to do with unscrewing the damping control screw/rod all the way and then taking the top of the oil reservoir off using circlip pliers? But I can’t be sure..
How do you get the oil out?
How much do you put back in?
What is a ‘heavier’ weight than standard oil?
How do you avoid screwing it all up?
Lots of questions! Answers much appreciated.. Cheers!
