    I thought it was a hummingbird moth caterpillar……but not sure now .
    its about 60mm long.

    It’s a hawk moth, but not certain which one, could be either elephant or poplar. The horn on the tail and the diagonal body stripes are a dead giveaway. I’ll have a look around.

    I think it might be a Lime Hawk moth, just trying to find a good pic.

    thanks …..lime hawk moth looks about right ..

    Struggling to find a photo I can download, but Lime Hawk moth looks likely, white stripes with magenta blobs instead of stripes, and fine white speckles all over. Privet Hawks are pure green, with white and magenta stripes. I used to collect them as a kid and keep them until they hatched. Beautiful creatures.
