Have got a Giant Fastroad SLR for commuting and riding around town, really love it. Am off to Wales next week for a week or so and my mate has gone and bought himself a Ridley X-Bow and wants to do some light ‘off-roading’.

Don’t want to spend a fortune on something I’ll only use a few times so can anyone recommend me something suitable tyre wise, and where from?

    Cheers.

What tyre clearance does the Giant have, bearing in mind it comes with 700x28c Giant tyres?

Almost certainly something suitable at PlanetX, but I also recall seeing some very cheap Schwalbe Land Cruisers on Amazon for ~£5 each.

Specialized do some pretty cheap steal beaded cx tyres.

Just use the tyres you already have on it. The 28C ‘all condition’ tyres will be fine for light off road.

Halfords had some 40mm 700c schwalbe land cruisers for 8 quid each.
