It may well be fair to say that I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to Bob Dylan, but that was a cracking xmas single!

    for me

    blood on the tracks
    blonde on blonde
    Highway 61 Revisited

    but there are lots really

I especially love the recording of his show at the "Royal Albert Hall" (its actually in Manchester Free trade hall) from 1966 – Bootleg series volume 4. This is the infamous "Judas" show, the first CD is Bob on his own, the 2nd is him on stage with "The Band" as his backing group and a hostile audience

    its amazing

While I might not know much of Bob Dylan's music (as demonstrated with my previous post), I do like his Theme Time Radio Hour, and thanks to Google, I've just found an online archive of all his shows – clicky

Hard Rain is an excellent live album. Live at the Budokan is good too.

    Absolutely NOT!
Aged 46 and I have yet to hear a single track from him that I could even begin to listen to without cringing.

Thanks for the advice, have just been out and bought Blood on the Tracks and Highway 61 Revisited, never seen the guy in the local record shop so excited! No Blonde on Blonde so will have to wait for that one.

Apologies for the Grocer's apostrophe in the thread title!

Just to add to the above which probably covers the core albums, Masterpieces is an excellent compilation. For more recent stuff I also really like Time out of Mind.

I would suggest that his first three albums are 'must haves'. The transition from solo folk singer/songwriter to "Judas" electric rock star is an interesting one, and the early albums put later offerings into some context.(There are some lovely tracks to be found amongst these too – Girl Of The North Country etc.)

Don't forget MODERN TIMES once you have absorbed his earlier work.
