There does seem to be rather a lot of heros out there. Afan is a great place to ride, it has some technical stuff and same fairly long climbs. For the majority of riders it is a challenge in one way or another. The ascent coupled by the levels of concentration required do make it a harder ride than many. I'm not the fitest or best techincal rider but I'm no longer completely rubbish either. W2 or Skyline or 2 of the other trails in a day is enough for me. Get tired, make a mistake on one of the descents and you'll hurt yourself. It's not Llandegla is it (runs for cover) where it's only a challenge 'at speed' .
