MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
Clive James, Gary Rhodes and Jonathan Miller.
CJ had been unwell for some time so, almost, expected; enjoyed much of his work; my second favourite antipodean - to Dame Edna.
GR at 59 - no age really; tried but failed to book at The Castle in Taunton where he first hit the big time.
Jonathan Miller at 85; so talented.
RIP to all.
Indeed. Rip.
Missed Clive James passing too.
Use to live his travel programmes but have some errrr very happy memories from his shows on foreign TV.
Apparently, Clive James died on Sunday but family only released statement today.
Drac - do you mean the weird Japanese programmes?
A great shame. 3 wonderful entertainers.
Drac – do you mean the weird Japanese programmes?
No, not those that would be just weird.
Did we do John Mann yet? Lead singer and songwriter for Spirit of the West?.
Used to love Clive James, his sense of humour was right up my street
Genuinely gutted about Clive James. Although I grew up watching the TV stuff, I only discovered him as a writer in the last few years and was astounded at the breadth and depth of his humour and learning.
I wondered so I checked, seems Magarita Pracatan is still going strong.

the weird Japanese programmes?
"Endurance."
This is a good one of his:
Religion is "an advertising agency for a product that does not exist."
I remember when he (clive james) interviewed Cher, he said “you look a million dollars, is that how much it cost”?
There were audible gasps from the audience, she was well known for flying off the handle at little things, but she just laughed it off.
How about all these massive brains on one stage (yes, even little Dud)?
Only Alan Bennett left from that cast.
Back in the 80's Clive James used to do an End of Year recap on New Years Eve which was always good. Partly funny and partly nostalgic.
RIP CJ
