  • Ardents.. UST or Tubes?

I’ve got a set of UST rims (Proper ones, not the bodge UST rims), and i’m looking for a new set of tyres.

I’ve been recommended Maxxis Ardents for trail riding, now, here’s where my question lies.

I was looking at 2.25″ ardents, these come in clincher and also tubeless versions. Sure, the LUST versions are a tad more pricey and a little heavier, but is it worth going for the tubeless tyres?

I’m looking at about 650grams with 150gram inner tubes which comes to 800g, whilst ust tyres are about 820g, with no tubes.

Which would you go for, Tubeless or normal clinchers?

I have both types and for lower pressures and a (slightly) thicker sidewall I’d go for the LUSTs.

Maxxis are known for working very well tubeless even when not LUST, so i’d just go for the standard ones, cheaper too.
