…what to do for Christmas dinner this year 😯

Is that a bad thing? Am I way premature?

Had a turkey crown last year. But fancy something different.

Please; humour me and give me some suggestions.

Need to order it in mid November though so it’s hung long enough 🙂

Best xmas dinner I ever did was:
    beef fillet carpaccio w parmesan
    Smoked salmon
    scallops
    handmade belgian chocs
    a squidgy stilton
some superb wines and a port
nothing big and heavy just spread out over 3 hours or so of gourmandery. Nom. 😉

I normally do a rare beef wellington or haunch of venison with lots of seasonal veg and devils on horseback. Always roast a couple of birds (phnar) Christmas day evening for people to snack on.

    Binners – on that subject:

“White cider is made by processing dessert apples and the pomace after the traditional milling process, resulting in an almost colourless product that has been heavily filtered. Pomace is the dry apple pulp left behind when the juice has been pressed out of it and this is usually fed to animals or used for making pectin. Other large manufacturers use apple concentrate from abroad and get most of the alcohol from the addition of glucose or corn syrup. This is then fermented out to about 15%abv and then brought down with water to around 7.5abv and sold in 2 or 3 litre bottles at prices that sometimes make lemonade seem expensive. The glucose is derived from maize or wheat starch and is changed by enzymes into sugars which in turn are changed into alcohol. So the majority of the alcohol in white cider has very little to do with apples at all. “

So all white cider is just horrible shit.

    See you there druidh 😉

Starship, I reckon individual turkey crowns for your guests/family wear would be a step up from last. Just picture their happy little faces. Gravy?

In a very odd way I am looking forward to Christmas this year – having lost dad 2 years ago and just in June, mum, there is just me and my ‘ickle brother left (t’other brother lives at the other side of the country). So I am going to cook a full Christmas Dinner and have him up to eat with my family as in the past we always went to mum & dad’s, latterly just mum’s.

So, making something good out of a bad situation and I have already been having a really good think about what I can do and looking forward to it 🙂

I want fish. I’m sick of eating piles of meat at Christmas.

    So sue me.

darrell mate – that looks bloody awful.

Makes the traditional English xmas dinner look truly awesome.

And you puree a fellow Scandanavian to complete the dish.

Booked and eating out this year. With the addition of 2 new baby grandkids(now 5) the logistics of eating at anyones home have become too difficult. We will also be having a few days at Center Parcs beforehand 😆
