    will i be ok on a cx bike with a compact.
    or would i be better with a triple.
    never ridden in the pyrenees before so do not know what to expect.
    going in 4 weeks can’t wait.
    anyone been, is it good…

    Carrying panniers? Then a triple definately. It’ll make those long climbs all the more enjoyable.

    Compact will be fine – just put a 28 or 29 block on it.

    Depends how heavily laden you are and the distances you plan on doing. I’ve only ever stayed around the Luchon area where A Quick Release holidays are based and from what I rode there’s nothing that would need a triple but the guides reckoned that even they needed compacts on normal road bikes for some of the mountains there…
