@weeksy & mossimus - Sorry if you are using ZP for that data it isn't reliable.
Strava giving me a weighted ave of 269w as I am just under 90Kg so ZP or not I am taking the 2.9w/Kg ๐
Zilog, thanks, splendid news on both counts!
Zilog, while you're here, your Neo, do you Bluetooth or ANT+?
Bluetooth using my iPad - not even tried it with ANT+. Plus HRM & separate cadence monitor, works perfectly, not had any connection problems.
Decided to keep my Neo... all the weird noises went away. There's a slight notchiness at low RPM/power but I think that's just the magnets and it's normal. Don't even notice/think about it during a race.POSTED 2 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST
Well after my complaints from the wife and neighbours now! I've ordered a neo today!! Was going to go for the Flux, but I love gadgets... And want to try the downhill freewheeling stuff!
It's going to be along with this week waiting for it to turn up!
I think if you can afford it, it's definitely the one to go for. It works differently from most (all?) other trainers so it's not just a case e.g the Flux being a "cut down" Neo. Not having to calibrate is great! The downhill drive really adds to the feel, and means you can actually freewheel after beasting yourself up a climb, and then start riding again without having to spin up the flywheel from nothing! I'm sure they'll be something even better out in 6 months, but that's always the way with these things.
Yeah im sure there will be, now it's available then the competition will need/want to better it fairly soon
Would it be best you use my current garmin cadence sensor or use the neo's one? I'm assuming as the garmin is actually mounted to my cranks it will give a more accurate reading than the neo's magic maths version?
The Neo is very close but not perfect, plus there's a very slight lag, so I use a separate sensor personally.
Crosshair, hard to say really as so many variables. Tonights z2 ride was 100k with 1100m elevation gain in 2:55 off 240 watts (@ 71kg), probably not too far off given reasonable conditions.
You zone 2 at 240W? Blimey
I don't really understand the HR zones and they correspond with training, can anyone explain or link me to a decent article please.
Would like to know whats best to do rather than just an all out slog to the end! and how best to recover.
Thanks
Sorry Nath, was wanting to play more but would have wiped myself out if I had
Ive had the Neo for over a year, clocked circa 4000k on Zwift without any issues. I love it during the winter (i simply hate wet, miserable, cold rides!)
it developed some odd noises so i took the freehub off, greased the little black spacer and it was sorted.
Waves at weeksy.
That hurt.
oh god! eeek.
I tried so so hard to hang with you Jambo on lap 3.... but i was on my last legs so so badly...
lost 4 places in last 5 km putting out 2.5 average for it approx.... but i was at or near my topm working HR and fried.
Great riding mate,.
I saw you fell off the back at that small rise out of the tunnel. I fell off the group I was with about 2km later and rode from the hill after the sprint solo until I got caught napping on the line by some chap on an epic sprint. He was 10s back when I looked and eased up at 500m.
I need to work on starting harder. Spent most of lap one and two chasing your name & group down with a 30s gap

Don't worry, the WBR race had killed me and for the worst place I have ever got 19th?!? Lowest I've ever come in that race is 9th, I can't look myself in the mirror right now ๐
Did make me chuckle when you requested for me to go faster ๐
BRS TT at 7:05pm tomorrow evening, Z2 ride on Wednesday evening and that's me done with Zwift for the week.
I actually quit 3 times and stopped turning the pedals, once about 1km before I got dropped but pinned it to get on again, then again just where you saw and once again in middle of sprint, quickly shouted at myself and dragged my legs back into the game. The main reason was, because another forumite was riding, otherwise I'd have bailed. So thank you.
Recently I've been lucky to set a few personal silvers, today I set 43 total with quite a few personal golds, so can't complain.

its the first race I've done where there has been a decent group to work in, before its been mostly get dropped at the start and the solo TT to the finish.
although I did spend the back half of lap two riding completely solo while my connection bugged out
Was a great group on lap 1, I think a dozen of us. Lap 2 it thinned a bit and by lap 3 it was 4-5. But all working hard. Quite a busy course tonight so at times hard working out who was who.
I made a bit of a mistake trying to hold 270w, 2.8 for too long mid lap 2. It left me at 169bpm which is the sort of HR I'm going to die at.
I left nothing in the tank at the end though, so I'm more than happy.
Next time!
Looks like I finished 6th in Cat D for the Kiss second base. Got a recommendation to move up but not automatically moved. Pleased with that as recovering from a bruised/cracked rib after a recent off.
where you seeing that? when I look at zwiftpower, the results for that race dont make a lot of sense.
6th well done! !
You may even move up after adjusted results?
not sure whats going on there. about 80% of the field are showing as DNF or unlinked.
That's becoming far too familliar a story. If doesn't spoil the race as such, bbut it is quite irritating not to see where you finished etc.
I was a bit too late to join in last night. I started a workout and thought I had enough time to finish it before the start, but just missed out.
Probably just as well as my legs were still a bit sore from the ride on Sunday.
Going to try a day/evening off tonight.... Not sure i can manage it though... Weight loss since the Xmas break is rubbish... so part of me wants to get in and do a bit, but i could honestly do with a day off (or two really). So going to play a bit of Xbox with my lad and see if i can keep my mind off cycling
Just been looking on Strava.... I've only had 1 day off since the 28th !
I think today should be a day off !
I'm thinking the same Weeksy, my legs are knackered from Saturday.
Last nights WBR TT was an eye opener to how fatigued I am right now.

problem with Zwiftpower or KISS?
are other race series better or is it just the january boost in numbers causing issues.
Dunno Jam,
I've barely seen a 'result' since before Xmas. Either the races not on ZP or the results not correct.
Now i think back i think it may be when races are not standard distances/schedules. I've only seen 1 results page since end Dec. Last nights i think D's were 2 laps and C's were 3 and it's got confused from that maybe ?
The other races recently were 5km for me which finished in a random spot and 16ish km which again finished in a random spot, so maybe it doesn't work correctly unless it all finishes under the banner at the correct time ?
Meant to have a go last night - got Zwift loaded up to the work PC, seems to run much better despite getting a graphics card warning, but then time ran away with me. Tonight i shall be connecting up devices and going for a spin
1/ any recommendations for a first go - I assume you can just select a course and go for a ride, or do you have to join a ride / race / workout?
2/ If assumption is right - where should I go for a ride that will showcase both Zwift and my new smart turbo (ie where I'll see the benefits of it varying resistance for me - hills in other words - without being an hours slog up a 12% hill ๐
3/ Saving rides to Strava - is that obvious (in fairness most other stuff seems to have been so far) - and if you do that are virtual rides noted in some other way so you can separate actual miles from miles done in the 'comfort' of your garage.
4/ As my laptop will be balanced on my workbench with then a monitor in front of me, I'll want to use my phone (android) to run the mobile app to actually control the program. Where can i get a Garmin out-front compatible quarter turn male mount from that i can stick to a cheap phone case so i can mount that on the bars? I can find one that converts 1/4 turn to a slide in 'old style' garmin mount - do i just have to get one of them and a stanley knife?
watopia figure of 8 has a good range without doing the mountain climb.
Had a race yesterday, did my normal thing of arriving 2 minutes before it started to find my heart rate monitor didn't work. Rushed and grabbed the wifes one, paired it, also didn't work. Swapped the battery on mine, still no joy, went back to mine and it finally kicked in.
This stuck me a couple of minutes behind everyone else, which made for a really fun race. Ended up in 17/30th in the D cat. Constant chasing and overtaking for an hour, loved it. Random "Ride On!" from Nathan Guerra at the end, which I normally don't see in lowly D cat, then realised he'd left the camera on me while he nattered on his stream for the last few minutes ๐

You don't even have to select anything, you can just go ride anywhere, and when a junction comes up, select which way, and carry on from there.
That being said ...
where should I go for a ride that will showcase both Zwift and my new smart turbo (ie where I'll see the benefits of it varying resistance for me - hills in other words - without being an hours slog up a 12% hill
I suggest you select Hilly Route on the initial screen. Sounds counter intuitive to what your asking, but this is a short-ish loop (circa 6 miles- ish) which takes you up an initial hill, and then after slopes down to the shore and back around with a few small gradients up and down, including the sprint section. That would probably give you the best balance of what your trainer/zwift setup will offer you.
When you select a route, it'll automatically select which direction to go at each junction for you. i.e. just leave it when it flashes a junction choice.
Selecting the mountain route is just a slog up hill for ages.
Decided to have ago at a race last night (BRS DeCat Race: Zwift in the New Yea)
25 miles (4 laps) in just over an hour, the other racers certainly give you a reason to push on. really enjoyed it.
just need to work out some of the finer points of zwiftpower (naming and such) and figure out who a few of you lot are in Zwift (better racing with/against people I 'sort of' know).
Nice one cheers...chris w is in the house
Welcome!
I've just gone on a mad following spree so I can see folks on Zwift mobile link - feel free to ignore my requests ๐
You've got to love getting a bit of Guerra coverage ๐ a
I think he once mentioned my name ๐
Must resist the urge to do the BRS TT at 7pm today...
These stats are RIDICULOUS, so which pro is it?!
http://www.zwiftpower.com/profile.php?id=19007476
If you're unsure what I'm referring to here, look at the HR data: http://www.strava.com/activities/826597512
Lower heart rate, so I'd assume someone older (or just not trying?)
So I have got on Zwift and did my first race last night.
Question is what is the zwiftpower website and do I have to link anything to it? My understanding is it is to get the results.
Do they only show the Top 30 results?

I should be in there somewhere!
If you click the down arrow below the results it shows more riders Are you in that list? I am not sure why these aren't shown in the main results?
i appear in that list twice. once as DNF and once as unlinked.
I think zwiftpower is struggling to keep up at the moment.
