Amongst the ever increasing things that annoy me as I get older is this. Yoofs and the way they use crossings, in particular the jaunty angle at which they approach a crossing i.e they start crossing about four feet away and slowly drift onto the crossing. The way they drag their heels and dribble whilst texting during this manouvre doesn't help.
I see it a lot, and today I thought **** it and hit the horn, even two and a half tons of Landrover bearing down on them didn't warrant a single reaction.
Mongtards.

Natural selection should see this sort of thing decline over the next decade or so

Have you ever driven in London? Repeat, constantly * 100. Add into the mix that no-one ever looks, they all have ipods on and *everyone* in London smokes 40 Rotherham King Size a day.

40 Rotherham King Size

Is there a brand called Rotherham these days?

It wouldn't be white with a blue band now would it?

You're the mongtard - a: for not knowing exactly how zebra crossings work - if you did you wouldn't be having this rant you'd be long clear of the crossing, b: using your horn to try and intimidate another road user when you should have been long clear of the crossing.

You dont need to give way to folk on zebra crossings until they step onto them - not when they are 4ft away.

Well it wouldn't would it ? It's hardly like your going to run them over, and surprisingly enough even they know this.

Oi lay off Rotherham, that's my home town.
There is a plan I have heard of to fatten the whole town up to that size, render them down and solve the nations power needs for decades.

IMO it was a big mistake to get rid of the requirement for a man to walk in front of a horseless carriage with a red flag. The intrusion of high speed vehicles into the urban scene has been a calamity, allowing drivers to become far too uppity 🙁

although the yoofs are no doubt irritating - i object to the way that drivers seem to think the road is their's and their's only, and that any ped daring to cross the road should scurry accross it like a frightened mouse

many's the time I step out to cross the road - a car is in the distance but far enough away that they shouldn't need to brake if travelling at 30, and the reaction of the driver seems to be to speed up to try and hurry you over the road

I've been crossing a road with one of my kids when they have been small, and a car has come round the corner when we are half way accross and started beeping like we have no right to cross

I spent some time in the US this year and was shocked to see this in the extreme there - jaywalking is a crime and in california cars can turn right on a red light.

what this results in is 4x4s passing you within inches whilst you use a crossing -

people on foot should have priority - its gone too far the other way

I think its considered bad form to run people over even if they are not on the zebra crossing.

When I was in Canada (10 years ago), I went out for a walk around Vancouver one morning and stopped the side of the road to look at something on the other side, cars stopped like I was Moses parting the red sea!

Agree in general though, as soon as we get into cars we seem to get annoyed with anyone else who dares to use the road; children, cyclists, other drivers (especially those driving different vehicles to our own) pedestrians, animals. It's such an unpleasant reaction/sensation that I'm starting like driving less and less tbh.

In Washington state, specifically Seattle, pedestrians have right of way when crossing, and the law will come down on the car driver like a ton of bricks....

I've experienced this in Canada, Australia and the US and a very refreshing change it is too. Drivers seem much less arrogant in some cities. Anyway, I'm sure the OP is trolling...

Pook - "young man" - not heard that in a long time, you have made my day 😀
And that pic has been photoshopped - no litter, chewing gum marks or bundles of people in the doorways.

pedestrians have right of way when crossing

As a car driver, if you're turning into a road the pedestrian has the right of way in this country too if they have already started to cross.

Oh please grevioustim.
You just can't walk out into a road without looking even if you are heading towards a crossing, they seriously think they are too cool to consider anyone else. Luckilly I know how ****ing stupid some people are, but stroll out into the road with your ears full of speakers and youre eyes on your mobile in front of someone doing the same in their car and neither will look too cool.

One will be dead and the other will find their life is ruined, neither will do it again. On balance I can live with that, in the main because I don't have a clue what to do about it, although to be fair I'd not considered ranting on a tenuously related internet forum a viable option.

If I'm standing at the side of a zebra crossing and the car looks like it's not going to stop for me, I make a move as though I'm going to step out in front of it. Usually works, they invariably drop their phone/coffee/chocolate bar and stop.
