Thanks for all the responses. Lots of albums there (J5, Vs, Astral Weeks, RATM) that are also on my list. A few I’ll give a spin too.

I’m surprised by many of the answers above. There are loads of albums I love, but few where I wouldn’t skip a track or two ... or three.
Massive Attack: Blue Lines was mentioned. I’d maybe agree with that. The only other I can think of for the moment is Dr Alimantado: Best Dressed Chicken in Town

Songs for the Deaf was ruined by No One Knows being constantly played on the radio in an old work place. Great album though. I’m always stuck between it, Rated R and Like Clockwork as the best one. Love the self titled, but it’s basically Kyuss lite.

Hell is for Heroes – The Neon Handshake

Was going to say this too. I guess it helps if you can't get the studio to release the album so you can spend months polishing the thing, but it's just flawless- no bad songs, and perfectly paced. I love that they left 2 awesome tracks off the album purely because they didn't fit

And First Love by Emmy The Great. I got to see her do this one (plus the bonus tracks) as a solo show this year and it was just incredible.

I think the whole damn fool "play the whole album in order" tours are a good test. Like, literally the best show I ever saw was Hundred Reasons' last ever gig, but even that was hurt a little bit by playing the first album in order. Not much though, it was still glorious.

But First Love works fantastically, and Neon Handshake could not be improved on.

Probably not a hugely popular one but '101 Damnations' by Carter.
Also 'Kasabian' by errrr Kasabian is pretty much perfect IMO.

As examples I love Idles – Joy as an Act of Resistance but have to skip June.

i assume you know the story behind it, and why theyll never play it live. i actually like having a slow, haunting song in the middle of all the noise and never skip it.

Paul Simon – Graceland

I came here to say this ^^

There are many, many artists who I like more than I like Paul Simon's work, but that album has long been on my desert islands discs list just because it really is one of the very few albums that I really just never tire of.

Yeah, if anything, it's the Dirty Dancing cover that doesn't work so well for me.

Brutalism is a far better album anyway.

@metalheart mentioned on page one, one of my favourites of all time.

Great to see so much love for Dummy, I think it was unfairly lumped in with the trip hop phase, when it's a much darker and more rewarding listen than that.

I'll add:

Death Cab For Cutie - Plans

Bohren And Der Club Of Gore - Black Earth

Nirvana - Nevermind - I had it on cassette so skipping tracks wasn't really an option - I did have to turn the tape over after "Polly" though

I said lowlife in my list. Power would be second and technique would be third on my list for new order.

Rancid – …And Out Come The Wolves

Good call. It’s a pity everything since has been a bit shit.

Cypress Hill - Black Sunday is another that’s just sprung to mind. There really are too many good albums.

Think a thread of almost perfect albums would be better. Those that are spoiled by one or two duff tracks.

That’s why I skip it. I’m a big softie and it’s very sad.

Brutalism is a far better album anyway.

Agreed and I think Mother is their best track
