Which just reminded me - 'Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same' was the drunken go to 'at home alone' film for decades, I replaced the worn VHS tape with DVD then finally 'replaced' that with YouTube highlights.

Seems Youtube channels are now my most regular late night home-alone choice, perfect attention-deficit companions 😉

Binners is your choice original or the Redux?

The original. The extra footage in Redux is self-indulgent twoddle which adds nothing.

My second is Withnail. I think it takes a few watches of it before you get past the laughing your tits off stage and realise its the greatest story of unrequited love and desperation ever told. And when you realise that, the final scene has more pathos than any other movie scene ever filmed. Always really upsets me.

The big Lebowski is another thats right up there. I love it! Utter genius.

And when me and my best mate, who I've known since I was 4, get back in from the pub, we don't even need to ask whats going on....

No preference of the 3, I watch them in order, not in one sitting though.

+1 Blazing Saddles.

Was the first DVD I ever bought, and oddly the first HD-DVD (yeah, I know, but counts as my first 'HD' disc, and not going to rebuy it on Blu Ray).

But Clockwork Orange is pretty much my all time favourite and could watch it endlessly. Along with most Kubrick films.

I used to watch certain stuff over and over, but like with all films I've suddenly stopped watching mostly. Not sure why. I got bored and/or annoyed with the new stuff coming out, and perhaps have oversaturated my watching. Now got into the habit of just watching TV shows as they're shorter. A film is an investment of a couple of hours, and I like to watch it in full cinema mode which involves, being fed first, getting the room ready, lights off, make sure the surround is working right etc. I just feel I could do something more useful in the time.

I managed to miss it at the cinema. Is it available elsewhere?

One winter many years ago I spent a month in Chamonix climbing and skiing. I think we watched The Blues Brothers [b]every[/b] night! "Porn or The Blues Brothers?" - "Blues Brothers!!!!" We were in the Sound of Music/Rocky Horror Picture Show stage of knowing every line and song 😆 I still don't mind watching it.

However even the original isn't my goto film as I find it loses its impact unless you give it at least a year or two between viewings

If I'm drunk and emotional then Sleepless in Seattle or Groundhog Day, no one does schmaltz like the yanks and any Richard Curtis film is a poor joke by comparison
