[#6386072]

Just managed 44 mpg from the S Max (1.8 CDTI) for the first time since I’ve had it. Very nearly changed the colour of the cell on my FuelEconomy.xls spreadsheet and applied a bold and underline format.

If I had been any sadder I would have done a little dance. Maybe I’ll save that until I get 45 mpg.

It was probably 70mpg on the octavia, I did get 90's but it was a long downhill run out of the alps.

6.5L/100kms is what my Fiesta should get. Can do it too.
Gashog is the first app I bought when the AppStore launched way back when, nearly 100000km of fill ups on it now.

I like getting 66.6mpg, fuel economy of the beast.

Holy trail is anything above 77.

6.5L/100kms

Litres per 100km? That's quite a rubbish measurement, I say.

I have a spreadsheet. I drive a 130i. My best is 35.8mpg, worst 27.8mpg and average is 32.3mpg over 12,012 miles. I must get out more.

EDIT: I want a Focus EcoBoost 125. Having had one as a hire car I reckon I could get close to 60mpg with it.

miles per unit of volume that has not been sold at the pumps since the 1980's... is a rubbish measurement 😉

when my leon cupra was new, the challenge was to get the mpg in to single figures.

when I had a 4.2 V8 Landrover the challenge was to get it into double figures

I get 44ish from my 320d regularly, about 550-600 miles from full to red, follow it with Fuelly. Whack all the figures in and itll do the rest.

This. The continuing use of imperial measurements infuriates me more than it should.

I once spent a very enjoyable afternoon at a track day trying to get a BMW M5 to go below 5mpg. Managed a relatively frugal 7mpg in the end...

Perhaps my Mazda has it right then, Litres/100 Miles.

Its an odd mix but at least it matches the UK units that fuel is sold in and distance.

Average figure on the display is 9.8l/100m IIRC, though I usually just fill up when the orange light comes on which is roughly every 550 miles

I got 16mpg on a 200 mile run the best I've got is about 35mpg.. You would think its a V8 or some other powerful engine, but its a 1.6 8v Astra 😐

Used to be really pleased to get 60mpg. Since changing my driving style, I am now disappointed if I get under 60mpg.

Best ever in this car was earlier this year; 68.8mpg over a tank when there seemed to be a bit less traffic on my commute, the weather seemed just right and I didn't have to do any silly little journies for that tank of fuel. (I think the computer showed 72mpg).

Passat 2.0 tdi here, with 49,000 miles of wear on the engine. Can achieve 55 mpg without too much trouble on a long steady run using the cruise control.

40mpg for my t4, generally only ever achievable on French autoroutes

Ideally 30mpg for the Landrover but I reckon 28mpg is the top

And I think I can realistically aim for 90 mpg out of my new NC700 when I've got used to gear choice

Some of you lot sound like those grimacing morons you see all the time trying to conserve fuel by driving on the motorway in the inside lane at 55mph, getting overtaken by the trucks and generally impeding the flow of traffic and royally pi**ing of those of us who actually need to get somewhere in the process.

I'm perfectly content in the knowledge that my twin turbo V6 is doing a maximum of 25mpg, but more usually with a healthy prod of the loud pedal somewhere around 19mpg. Still, you can't put a price on happiness as they say 😉

It's what we understand innit. Other measurements are meaningless without coversion to mpg!

I've got two MPG figures I've been proud of. One was 11 MPG in one of my Type r's, that was a good evening and a recent 71mpg when I forgot to fill up 22 miles from the next services and had already reached the bottom of the reserve indicator - I made it which was amazing.

see this is another reason to love my cycle commute, I'm enough of a tightarse that if I had to drive a lot, I'd have to start doing mpg calculations and spreadsheets.

thankfully a trip to do the big shop is about my usual weekly driving limit.

91MPG drafting a HGV for about 10 miles when I first got my Audi.

Never again it was dull and painful I was killing time as wife had rang a few minutes before so she was going to be later finished than planned.

And how many miles/week do you drive in your twin turbo v6?!

If I only got 19mpg out of my car, I'd spend about £130/week in fuel alone, getting to work and back.

....prod of the loud pedal... 😆

I think mine was 30 to 32 mpg at the best but I haven't try the very long distance. 🙁

1.6 Toyota Auto ...

Normal city drive is worst but for whatever reason I like the car very much. 😀

80mpg over a 150 mile trip back in April.

No matter how fast I drive it I don't think I've ever had below 40mpg on a run of over 3 miles.

I had 72 MPG on a run into London a couple of weeks ago but in the warm weather I almost always see over 70 and can see up to 80 MPG if I drive it like a grandad.

It's a 1.6 TDI MK7 Golf.

I bought my Mazda 3 last year and it took me while to get my head round the litre/100miles conversion thing. I generally get 8.5 or there aboout but got down to 7.8 something its a 1.6 diesel, must be doing something wrong, can't all be because of the bike rack on the roof?

Mondeo 2.2 diesel 60mpg, had 59.7 but never broken the magic number yet. The previous Mondeo 2.0 diesel would manage 66mpg when careful.

Looks like my Toyota (petrol) can be thirsty. Dammit! My next car will run forever with one gallon of petrol. That will learn you lot with 65-70mpg! 😡

Well at least you didn't make a spreadsheet of your sex life:

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/husband-creates-spreadsheet-detailing-wifes-excuses-for-turning-down-sex-9619111.html

but it's a slippery slope :p

Me 600 miles out of a full tank in my T5 and once a month would be a good thing. 😕

8.5 L/100miles = 53.8mpg
7.8 L/100miles = 58.3mpg

I'd say that was pretty good?

Mine is only 9.8 L/100miles = 46.4mpg as I was on holiday up to Northumberland back in June where I get a good motorway run & the roads in Northumberland are usually very quiet.

Usual is 12 L/100miles = 37.9mpg (2ltr TD) it is chipped and I do tend to drive like my hair is on fire though

Jesus, it gets worse!

A work colleague was boasting to me the other day that on his way to work his new Bluemotion Passat gave him 72mpg. He then asked what I got from my car.

I replied "21mpg, a smile, and I get laid".

Was pleased with 36mpg out of my 23 year old Peugeot 309 when I calculated it today. For an engine largely in the late 1960s I think that's pretty good.

Aw, how sweet. My twin turbo 3l V6 does 44mpg and with a prod of the loud pedal somewhere around 39mpg and 0-60 in 5.7 seconds.

Got the bad boy I'm leaning on down to 13mpg one day, averaged 17mpg over 10 days (instantaneous fuel gauge only went up to 25mpg). The wee car averaged only 34mpg...God Bless America.

On a longish journey, in the 900S (petrol) I would be pretty pleased to see somewhere around the 38mpg overall - this'd be on a 350 mile round trip..

New - to me - Octavia estate, petrol again, last couple of longish runs -- 47mpg last night (280 miles round trip) and more like 45mpg today (less miles, into Aberdeen -- urrghh).
