Buy loose leaf, warm your teapot, brew for 5 mins, don't use re-boiled water. Tidy.

Bags or loose leaf?
Punjana or Irish from Thomsons are both pretty good
Although after a duff box we switched to Twinings English Breakfast strong blend and that makes a lovely cup of tea.
Both get 3 mins in a pre heated mug , with 10ml of milk.

Absolutely nothing beats Yorkshire Tea, although I think I prefer it made in a tea pot rather than a mug because the bags seem to be a lot bigger / fuller than regular tea bags and its easy to make it too strong.

They still deliver door to door, with a bloke in a van. Sell more than tea as well.

At over a quid a cup that Twinings Assam should be flipping amazing. Suspect you are paying a high premium for the wonderful packaging, rather than the tea enclosed. 🙂

Twinings EBTea/fairtrade (the gold one)

Don't use Waitrose Organic Skimmed Milk though, tastes shite. 😛

Tea is quite a high cost as well in comparison to a standard blend CHB however, yes, the packaging is special, very much a gift item unless you can drink it for free like moi!!!! 🙂

I don 't get this love for Yorkshire Tea! Triumph of marketing, if you ask me. Normal Tetley has far more flavour.
I'd love to do a blind taste test on someone!

In my local Waitrose you don't get much choice of Tea.. Ok so you've got all the normal stuff, but RIngtons? What on Earth? Never heard of em'.. And that's what I mean.. I like a bit of variety in my life.. Limited by Waitrose stock though.. mebbies I'm destined for mediocra...TEA

Blessed as I am with the inability to digest lactose, I have no choice but to drink tea without milk. This means that I've actually tasted tea. Yorkshire tea is nowt special.

Twinings is a little *common*, but it's pretty good stuff.

Assam or Lapsang souchong for me.

Like Yorkshire tea but either Twinings 'everyday' or Clipper organic are the way forward...

Sainsbury's Red Label has been meeting my family's needs for the past 40 years or so. Tea leaves rock.

@ ahwiles - lactose-free not work for you?

Nope, y'see, after years of not drinking milk, i now think it tastes weird.

Every now and then, someone will make me a cup of tea, with milk in. Of course I simply say 'thank you', and drink it, because, y'know, it's just good manners, and I really don't want to be *that* guy.

But, i never find myself drinking milky tea wishing I had the digestive enzymes that would allow me to replace my lovely tasty tea with a cup of bland, watery milk with a hint of something that might be tea.

I prefer PG for everyday drinking, but Yorkshire decaf is nice.

Current favourite is a cunning blend of PG and Lady Grey (one bag of each in the pot).

There is better tea. Yorkshire is a bit...blunt? Try the Autumnal Flush Darjeeling.

Whatever you do, avoid Popcorn tea unless you like the idea of toast-flavoured tea. Ugh.

Now this is a subject I have researched extensively, but I'll restrict my answer to regular supermarket stuff. I'd say yorkshire gold is pretty excellent but clipper organic is better. If you want a bit more punch clipper breakfast (the one in the yellow box) is yummy too.

My LT&CS (Local Tea & Coffee Shop, Braithwaites pf Dundee) does a brilliant Russian Caravan tea. Strong with a hint of smoke, doesn'y keep well so needs to be drunk within the week. Best. Tea. Ever

Mr Braithwaite in his wonderful shop - beans ground on demand, green beans supplied if you wnat to roast your own. I can't remember the last time I bought tea or coffee from a supermarket

Varies massively on water. Tetley in N Wales is awful. But pretty good in Wiltshire. Fav so far is Thomson everyday blend in the gold packet. Or cafe direct. Clipper used to be good, but think something has changed and it's pretty weak now.

Like Yorkshire Tea, but preferring Twinnings Extra strong breakfast tea. So that's 2 shouts for that. Plus we do work at Twinnings, so get it at staff prices as an added bonus. 😀

You will find Ringtons tea in Waitrose, but it won't be labelled as Ringtons. It'll be labelled as Waitrose. Same goes for another major supermarket, a clothes and food retailer, and an upmarket grocer to the Queen.

Though I'd say you can't beat the stuff delivered to your door by a friendly man in a van. Not that I'm biased...

I reckon if you wrote 'Yorkshire' on a brick and packed it in a confectionary wrapper, people from Yorkshire would say it were t'best chocolate in't'world.
I'm going to take a wild stab and suggest that, well, because I've not seen extensive fields of tea bushes growing in the UK, that it probably comes from India or China.
I wonder how well it would sell if the box were kept exactly the same and they put 'Chinese Tea' on it....?
🙂
