Seems to be a very common occurance 2 people i know got dumped on christmas eve a few years ago, and they also knew quite a few that had got dumped.

Perhaps good christmas reading would be , Men are from Mars, women are from Venus.

So sad for the child, but best of luck for you all.

Crappy way to do it, and just as crappy timing.

Thoughts go out to you OP, good luck and chin up.

Where are you in the UK, OP? I imagine there will be a STW agent available in your area, to take you out for a pie and a pint.

They make surprisingly good listeners.

Agree with Jamie, the kindness of strangers etc. Could even be combined with a ride. I mean this is a bike site occasionally isn't it?

My ex did this in 2011 so you have my sympathy. I got back with her stupidly after Christmas. But she cheated again may 2012. Got with my work collegue and we're getting married next year.

Get to your parents, close friends stuff your face have a drink and look to the future. Selfish, weak bitch doing it by text.

I've been in a similar situation. Shitty thing to do. Of course you probably feel very angry about this right now. It will pass eventually. And you will meet the awesome woman you deserve one day. It's hard to take in at the time, but you're better off without someone who'd pull a ****'s trick like that on you.
Hope you're ok, OP.

Cheers for the comments guys.

Quick update. Pretty sh1t day yesterday albeit a day of two halves. Currently with the in-laws and being treated like a leper by the missus.

Good for you - going to the inlaws. Not so sure I could have done that.

Has she told inlaws of the situation?

Tough times, very obnoxious behaviour by her. I signed my divorce settlement a few days before Christmas but it was a relief to get that part behind me, my only regret is not having done this 5 or more years ago. I imagine right now things look quite dark but the future is what you make of it. Time to move on, you have your son and it's you and he who are the priorities now.

Just focus on your little man having a good xmas and it will get you through it.
top advice! Make sure you bag it first though.

Spacemonkey. Huge kudos for visiting the inlaws that must have been tough. Are they aware of their daughters actions? May she burn for being such a coward

Timing - appalling.
Method - disgraceful.

OP - she sounds like a real piece of work. I can't believe that somebody would do that.

Take care of yourself and Spacemonkey Junior.

For me, the crux of the issue is it's ok to dump someone by text if your 14. Not when you're an adult with a kid. People break up, it's just one of the facts of life, but there are ways of doing things.

This used to be my break up tune. Always made me feel better.

This +1.
Wishing you the best mate. Can't really say much more that hasn't been said. Just hope things take a turn in the right direction for you sharply.

Can't believe this, nor can I believe you went to your in laws! I hope you told them as you all sat together for a meal?

Disgusting behaviour by her. Good luck!

Oh dear, that's awful. Individually, the timing and the method are bad enough, but together... that sucks.

(I wonder what was the catalyst that inspired this at this time).

Good luck for the future.

Got dumped once on boxing day! So couldn't take gifts back and didn't take it well but I was a lot younger then.

See if you can swap her presents to buy her a spine or a turd in a box!

Very poor form on her part but your probably better out of it mate and sounds like your handling it.

Hope you have a great 2014 and meet someone special when you are ready.
