I was bought tickets to see Henning Wehn in Birmingham and babysitter has let us down at the last minute. We've even got beer ordered for the interval.
I don't fancy sitting on my own like a saddo, what would you do?
I'd go and sit on my own like a saddo. Who cares (other than your partner if you've sodded off leaving them holding the baby, of course).
Plus, double beer. Win.
It can't be any more of a bad idea than going to one on a first date and sitting in the middle of the front row. This is not just an opinion but has been fully tested!
No. Next question.
I had this conversation the other with my OH, she said she would feel quite comfortable going to a comedy gig on her own.
As a side note, we had tickets to see Henning Wehn years ago at Whitley Bay playhouse, instead I trapped a nerve in my spine and spent 4 days in hospital
I'd go alone. Its not like you'll be chatting throughout the show. Could you take someone else? Or ask a friend if they are free to come with you and when they say yes say in that case you are free to babysit!
let us down at the last minute
Also there is probably a joke about comedy and timing in there but I can't quite get to it (Henning used to tell a great one)
In short, yes. And I have done in the past too.
Invite a mate with the spare ticket if you’re worried, but I’d be very happy to fly solo.
Take a friend
No problem, go on your own, unless of course you’ve got front row tickets to see Dara O’Brien. Then it’d be a very long long evening.....
Dara? Imagine if it was Josh Widdicome! I’d babysit and send the wife.
Of course, you're going to sit in a seat in the fairly dark for an evening.
no. but I don't even like watching tv on my own.
Assuming the whole point in arranging a babysitter was to spend an evening with your partner? there's plenty good comedy on Netflix/Youtube etc., get some drinks in and enjoy a night in together. I am also assuming your kids sleep.
what would you do?
Go.
Dressed as a clown.
Would actually be a great time to see Henning. He's an excellent stand up but I imagine it would extra good at the moment.
I wouldn't go. But that was mostly because I saw Henning last year and shit is an understatement. It was on the wrong side of borderline racist and incredibly awkward.
Both myself and my wife were bitterly disappointed because having seen and liked his appearances on various TV panel shows we were both looking forward to it.
The only show by a comedian that I would have ever gone to was Dave Allen.
Take the babysitter. 😉
Yeah, if your partner is cool with it why not as a few others have said you are going to sit in a dark room full of strangers for the evening!!
Failing that pop it on your facebook and see if you have a mate free that evening
