Oh, I see, outofbreath is just a pillock who goes around political threads trying to pick holes in what other people say. Overuse of the word trolling. A thick **** trying to make himself look clever. Best ignored then.

she doesn’t really. The sex, skin colour and education make no difference to what Turing accomplished. When someone talks about Turing do you imediatly think of those three things or what he did for the country during the war

Deffo the latter, as you can see from my posts in this thread.

Coincidentally, yesterday early evening, there was a programme about 100s (maybe 1000s, I couldn’t watch it all) of people sending abusive letters/emails/whatever and threatening to remove their children from schools “teaching them to be gay”.

There are  32,000 schools and 10.2 million school pupils in the UK

I rather suspect that wasn't the point Kerley was getting at, but rather your choice of language.

Yet someone deemed it necessary to make a TV programme. What's the world coming to?

I wish you luck. The last time someone made that assertion on STW, the Professionally Offended By Proxy comments ran to about five pages.

Further reading. "That" thread:

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/casual-racists/

And more recently,

https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/is-it-racist/

<mod>
Whilst thread drift is generally fine, I'd rather this didn't turn into a rerun of those threads. If you wish to discuss it further I'd suggest creating a new thread for it. Back on topic now plz kkthxbi.

In a passing sort of way. But without going into their wallet/purse I'd bet the majority can't recollect who's on our bank notes already.
Alan Turing is a fine choice for the new £50 and nobody is going to be offended, those who might be wouldn't know who he was or even that he was gay. That won't of course stop some people hoping there'll be a fuss about him being on the note, purely for the pleasure they'll get by being offended by the offended. 😁😁

It's instant dismisal at my place of work for using that term in the same way.

Alan Turing on the £50 .00 note, well done there, as most homosexuals are well able to afford one in their wallets, pink pound and all that, now pink 50 pound.

Pity he wasnt put on a lower denomination note, for a more widespread audience, especially those who have a fear/hatred/grudge against homosexuals, to make them think how bloody thick they are, for having the above prjeduces.

£5 - crown lady and cricket or something?

£10 - crown lady (again) and epic beard man?

£20 - crown lady (again, again) and somebody with a moustache?

£50 - Alan Turing and somebody with a hat?

I’ve not seen money for ages. Did I win?
