Maybe not the most important thing in the world (first world problem springs to mind) but...
Maxxis, wy did you change your logo colour to white from yellow?
I now am the - not so - proud owner of a pair of mismatched tyres. My ten year old mocks them. It doesn't state what colour the logo is when buying online either.

From Merlin. My son's new bike also has white logos.
It'd be handy if this was listed in the description, I've emailed Merlin as I wanted to buy Minion for the front of my son's bike and would prefer a white logo to match his current one.

Merlin sell a lot of OEM stuff stripped off retail bikes so that's probably what's happened. Just send them back if you haven't used them already.

The OEM thing is just the rumour mill doing its thing . Maxxis print the logo in white and yellow becasue; reasons. Some bike manufacturers want yellow, some want white, so Maxxis make them both. The tyres themselves are no different.

Not really. Some OEM are white, some are yellow. All aftermarket are yellow.

As above, white logo on every new bike I've had with Maxxis tyres.
I've got a Hightower and a Whyte E-160, both with Assegai and DHR2 tyres. The Ebike came with both white logo's but an exo plus front when I had a new DD Assegai with yellow logo, I've now got yellow/white logo's on both bikes as it makes more sense to put the DD on the front of the ebike and the lighter version on the Hightower, it really doesn't matter what colour they are. Before this I'd been using a Magic Mary/DHR2 combo for a good few years but I'm more concerned with how a bike rides than how it looks

So bike brands get to pick yellow or white, but aftermarket should be yellow only (edit, too slow)
IIRC there was a run of white label ardents that came stock on many "trail/xc" bikes 7-8 years ago that were particularly poor rubber compound and/or puncture resistance. Which has made people hate both ardents and white label tyres (perhaps incorrectly) ever since.

I appreciate you taking the time to listen and ask a question. Spec for spec there is no difference between an OEM (white label tire) and an aftermarket (yellow label tire). The Maxxis yellow can clash with certain paint and graphics chosen by bike brands which is why we offer the white hot patch. For example, let’s say you bought a new bike with 29x2.5 Assegai in EXO+ casing with 3C MaxxTerra compound. Other than the hot patch (logo) color on the sidewall, there’s no difference between that and a yellow label tire you would find in a bike shop with the same specs.

It's [not at all] an important distinction though in so much as buying an oem tyre won't necessarily solve the issue, the right question needs to be asked to discern the colour that isn't "oem or not" [obviously the right question is "is this tyre wobbly because my front maxxis one is and this needs to match"]

And also, that Maxxis guy is lying. There are OEM only tyres that are different to aftermarket tyres, whatever colour the logo. If they’re getting enough made, they can get made what that want. Orbea have had a few Maxxis tyres unique to them as an example. There’s one here… yellow logos IIRC… I’ll go look…

Think there was something about some dodgy Ardents a while back which was then conflated to all tyres with white patch. My Slayer had a DHR II/Assegai combo with white patches, ironically the straightest set of tyres i'd had from Maxxis for a while and since.
Thankfully Conti seem to make tyres that are missing the wobble.

Obviously not Sherlock, hence why @didnthurt started the thread. The difference here is WWC is being open about the white patch offering them for retail, something Merlin and CRC don't do and just sell them without mentioning the colour.
Also big bikes shops are OEM customers too, hence why they're not available everywhere.

Couple of weeks ago I was running a factory built on the rear and a shop built on the front with mismatched tyres and tubes (valve lengths too).
Hubs/spokes/rims/tyres/tubes and valves all mismatched 😀

FYI I bought a pair but realised that I preferred my old High Roller 2 rear as the trails were still dry.
It was a genuine question, I just thought Maxxis had changed their logo colour.

I broke a spoke on my rear 27.5+ wheel a while back - Hope Pro 4, with black Sapim spokes and Raceface Arc rims.
While I was waiting for a replacement to turn up, I ran a spare rear wheel - Stans Neo hub, Stans Baron rim, and silver DT spokes.
Mismatched tyres too (WTB front and Maxxis rear).
NEVER have I felt so alive 😁
