Looked and looked - don't even mind paying but cannot find any off road mapping for the French Alps areas Morzine, chatel, les Gets and the like to load onto my Garmin, I would have paper versions but descriptions to the covered area is misleading.
Anyone got any good links tried and tested? thanks

I had an iphone app that let you buy map data for France - can't remember the name now but it was really handy.

This allegedly lets you draw routes and export them as GPX files, although I've never made it work. You might have more luck.

Pretty sure there are other similar sites out there.

Viewranger has maps for the whole of France, you can just download the area tiles you need.

The outdoors app is pretty good. Cache the area you're riding before going out & use the GPS to locate yourself if lost.
No substitute for a paper map though IMO.
