I like this, from the point of view of spotting an opportunity, having an idea how to solve it and being entrepreneurial enough to turn it into a real business - people like that are what we need to get the UK out of its mess

But the old grump in me wonders if we've all got so lazy and 'I'll get someone else to do it' that no-one bothers to wash their own car anymore - it only takes about 30 mins! Back in the 70's and 80's everyone was out washing their cars at the weekend...

Not sure why people go to the effort or expense of washing their cars. In fact, the last time I did mine the electrics went haywire.

Let some muppet swirl up your paint with sponge?

Never let anyone else wash my car.

Neat but mine goes through the local Arc place every two to three weeks usually on the way home from a regular s social thing. 5 to 10 minutes job done and youngest likes the big dryer at the end!

Not sure I would do that too a nicer car but for a ten year old mondeo that just needs to look a little loved for work is just the ticket.

I don't have a driveway and rarely get parked outside the house ,so for £10 ,inside and out ,with my Serbian friends (really ),it's a no brainer.

Full wash wax and interior valet costs a tenner at my local, takes about 40 mins for a couple of guys to do it, bit longer after a few biking weekends 😆

I've never washed my car since discovering this... it's just not worth bothering with for a tenner! City centre flat doesn't help though i'd be more inclined if it was a roll kit out of garage and wash job. Makes the £90 the guys above are charging a bit steep, London eh?

Don't let anyone else wash my bikes though 😉

I need to lose lard and save cash so it's just me, a few cloths, sponge and chamois, water bucket refills up and down stairs, even do the inside sometimes, especially the seats are they are pale blue. Pale blue I ask you....

I only ever do my own (and under duress the wifes ) , I find the couple of hours I spend doing it properly a good way to relax ,therapeutic I guess ,

Mobile valet guys spend some of Sat morn in our road, a tenner gets both cars properly washed and dried. Almost as cheap as getting my kids to do them 😀

Place in southampton by toysrus it costs £5 to get car washed and you get to park free all day. Saying that my truck was so sh@&ty they charged me £10 but the car parking would have been at least a fiver for the most part of the day in town!

Good on them but I ain't paying £15 for a car wash coz I don't drive an expensive car. 😯

Mine get wash by Afghans for £5 plus I give them £1 extra.

I live in a flat so I cannot wash my car using pressure washer otherwise I would wash it myself.

I hand wash my cars, and wax twice a year. Paraffin soaked rags to remove road grime before polishing.

They all move on looking like new. Gives me a warm glow. Mechanical car washes wreck paintwork and miss bits.

love doing my car!
2 forums i tend to frequent are this, and detailing world

you would really not believe how much some folk spend on limited edition carnauba waxes (actually you would if you spend shit loads on stuff like ceramic jockey wheel bearings)

😆 ^ that was a classic

Back to the car cleaning; I tend to do mine as I hate queuing at the hand car washes, in the time I have to wait I may as well do it myself. I only do a jet wash then shampoo though, not the detailing malarkey.
Would pay for a mobile service like the OP posted.

Thanks

Rob

If the day is dry enough to wash the car, it's dry enough to ride the bike.

If it's wet, then I let the sky wash the car.

Used to do a drive through thing with the Volvo but the new one will not be going anywhere near a machine.
I'm currently just using a very effective 'foam' which I then jetwash off - seems to take 95% of the much with it and only takes 1o mins tops.
It gets cleaned properly if it goes to the dealer but I may also get it done by someone if I can't be bothered.

I'm not sure how the ^ company can call their service '100% eco-friendly' when they're having to drive around London to get to the car to wash it. 😐

A car wash I drive past most days offers 'the best hand job in the North' - I kid you not!

Only a fiver too, bargain. Cant beat a Polish polish eh?

always wash my own car&van only because car wash places or machines dont wash inside the wheelarch inner lip which always fill up with mud&dirt leading to rust or underneath to wash the salt off in winter. I also check the engine fluids at the same time.

mine gets washed before they give it to me and after I give it back.

Not actually owning a car is quite a nice feeling

Mine gets cleaned inside and out once a year just before the six weeks holidays and the various camping trips take place. It then gets destroyed inside and out and stays like that until the following year.

Combination of local hand wash types and me. I'd say it's 50/50.

Back in the 70's and 80's everyone was out washing their cars at the weekend...

And the sun shone everyday in the summer, winters ooh now they were proper winters and you could leave your front door open.

Of course I was my own. The jet wash at work soon takes care of any mud.

yes the same reason I wash my own bike. Although can be tempted to machine wash when they drop the price below £2

You don't wanna be leaving your door open when it's cold out, Drac - crazy talk !

An lightsabre battles in the dusk - them was great times
, whip the stylophone out for a quick tune 🙁

I wouldn't ever bother let anyone wash my car an swirl my paint up. Keep it as a pleasent 30mins relax on the summer nights(double bucket) and machine polish once a year.

I use the local Serbian dudes, £5 for external clean, £10 for the full monty.

Or I may clean it myself, dodgy back currently though so the Serbs get the gig.
