Buster Gonad
Biffa Bacon
๐
Beryl the Peril was in the Dandy. I think the Whizzers fro Ozz were in Whizzer and CHips? not heard of the other though
Remember a few although for real quality strips go for:
Cheeky
Dredger
Hookjaw
Spinball
Lord Peter Flint
Union Jack Jackson
Now, ponder those for a while.
The Fat Sl&gs
Yep! ๐ณ
Yes most, Danny the Tranny sounds sinister though, bet you made it up ๐
Doh! Dannys Tranny ๐ณ
Keyhole kate rings a bell.
Reaching back into the dim and distant past I seem to remember Hookjaw was a shark but can't for the life of me remember why he was in a comic strip.
Union Jack Jackson was in Warlord comic, a Brit in an American Marine unit in WW2.
Lord Peter Flint again in Warlord a WW2 intel operative(possibily).
I feel very very old now ๐
Ghastly Manor
Remember a few of them.No mention of Billy Whizz tho?
No mentions of:
judge Dredd
ABC warriors
Torquemada (OK early 80's)
Strontium Dog
Savage
Er That blue bloke
eh eh eh?
'That Blue Bloke' was Rouge Trooper, and most/all of your list is from 2000AD, whilst the OP was from a gentler age of ginger beer and slap up feasts, rather than wholesale death and mutilation..........wish i still had all my old 2000AD's (cheers mum!)
I hated that Korky the Kat, what a k**t he was.
Ah, but who else remembers Kampfruppe Falken? Great stories with <gasp> sympathetic German characters as the leads.
I saw 2000AD or maybe the Judge Dredd thing were reprinting Charley's War, now that was bloody brilliant... A kid's war story that wasn't just "Isn't war GREAT!"
Were you a Fireball or a war Lord ? thats the question. 8)
2000AD and Starlord!
ABC warriors
Rogue Trooper
Stainless Steel Rat (before I discovered Harry Harrison)
Figaro was in the victor book for boys.
What about Skid Solo, Roy Race, Blackie Gray, Johnny Cougar etc? All from Tiger I think.
And also Alf Tupper, Billy's Boots and Hot Shot Hamish from other comics.
Albert O'Balsam and his Magic Hats?
Bertie Blunt - his Parrot's a C*nt?
Orson Cart - He Comes Apart?
Dannys Tranny
What about Lt. Blueberry? (Ok, it started in the sixties) or Arzach?
One thing thats great, is that with all the sadly failed comics of the seventies, 2000AD is still going, and alongside the characters people have mentioned they have got highly original new ones like Zombo, Shakara!, and Gene the Hackman.
I used to love Harlem Heroes...rollerball with jet packs!!! Ace.
from Battle mag IIRC
Harlem Heroes was 2000AD again.
Though it was the 70s.
what was the name of the kid who *scrundged" or what ever it was, often into some form of monster?
MrNutt, that was Faceache from Buster.
ah thats right!
Yay!! Battle-Action
2000ad, Starlord and Warlord.
Amazing how so many world renowned writers and artists started here.
