Is there an easy (free?) way to find out who built a house?

turn it over and it's written underneath.
[edit] depends when it was built. A lot of LA's have online planning databases that go back 10 or 15 years now.

If it's an old house your county or council archives might have the plans. They have mine. If it's mine you were interested in, it was built by H.Arnold in 1901.
