So, I've just had my MX bike stolen in Bristol over the weekend from my lockup.
After a chat with another biker he suggested I ditch the car+trailer combo and get a plain van for moving a bike in the future. What's the smallest van that I could get away with?
Caddy? Plenty of roof height which makes life a lot easier...
Nightmare . Sorry to hear that.
Yeah my mate gets his KTM 150 in the back of his Vauxhall combi
Front seat goes right forward and make sure theres no bulkhead.
Word of warning:
Don't accelerate/brake too hard or bike goes all over.
Don't expect to carry jetwash with you
Enjoy getting it back in the van after a days racing and your hangin!
Might be worth going and speaking to the folks at Meredith to see if they have heard anything.
older pug expert/citroen dispatch/fiat somethingorother would do it, but TBH you may as well go for transit size if you're going to do it.

That, I think is about as small as you're going to go without having to faff with the bike. Got a friend who could get a 'crosser into, like, a VW Caddy or something similarly sized, but you've got to drop the bars and stuff like that, more hassle than I could be bothered with.
Sorry about your news. ๐ Stealth is everything when it comes to minimising the risk of theft, IMHO.
Mate got his XT600 in his Daihatsu Hijet. Front wheel slotted between the front seats. Just couldn't use the handbrake.
My XR650 goes in my SWB citroen dispatch with a bulkhead, bith wheels straight, no problem
ive just bought a peuogeot expert with a wheelchair ramp my drz400 fits in there no problem at all I can even get my Yamaha 1000cc in there (not at the same time) the handbrake is on the right side so loads of room between front seats excellent on fuel and drives just like a car.

Yeah. Did that and left details with him. Also contacted the local breakers and they said they never touch MX bikes as they are undoubtedly hot. Apparently they get shipped off to Ireland.
Someone on another thread told me there's a spate of thefts right now in Avonmouth/Pill/Shirehampton and I should check under the Avonmouth Overpass as it can be a bike graveyard. I checked it this evening, I can see why it could get that reputation but no sign unfortunately.
The bike for those that might come across it at tracks.

LWB Hi Top Transit Connect will
I've seen a lot of people recommend that elsewhere and there's lots of them for sale. A VW caddy is a bit spendy but older VWs always look in better nick than any others. Decisions, decisions.
